Eight Retailers That Will Close the Most Stores - 24/7 Wall St.

That's not good and feel bad for employees. :(

Best Buy grew so fast and very spread, so now, they are at top of mountain so start slide.

I noticed that McDonald's is still growing over the US and the McDonald's in our city is always busy at all time.

Here locally had a Kmart that was closed down few weeks ago.

Looks like Office Max has huge gains. I don't see why they are closing stores...

good! the end of conglomerates and monopoly.

I don't feel sad at all. I don't shop there.

eh there will be something else like..... small businesses

Let hope small businesses will growing.

I believe that 70% of US economy is depending on small business.

All of it happens due to internet. More people are shopping through internet now. Amazon.com is the most popular internet store so far. It almost has everything you need, even it sells 60" LED TV. It offers the lower prices than local stores so I guess that's why local stores are going out of business. In other words, internet steals people's jobs unfortunately. Imagine, there are also educational courses online so you don't need to go to college. In the future, maybe we will have less colleges locally.

It's nice to have some of these things in my town. Even though they are far from me (I'm at the opposite end of "city"), it beats driving to Charlotte. We only have a couple of small Christian bookstores, but I can see some of the other ones closing depending on what others do since they are in the same shopping center. 2 Gamestops not even a mile apart is a no-brainer, but one is by Walmart, the other by Target.

I don't consider these stores as "local stores". these chain stores are killing local stores, not internet.

more and more local stores are using Internet and they're doing very well. in fact, it's doing so well that they had to hire more workers to keep up with internet orders. for example - http://www.paulbondboots.com/ has grown very well and profitable in Arizona - all thanks to Internet.

Plus - many locals say they rather pay a little more at local stores than buying it cheap from chain store or online because of excellent customer service... which is what I do.

No more BIG BOX stores with subdivision of McMansions and bunches of fatty, greasy fast food. :laugh2:

I see why, but we are not allowed to discuss that here. :)

Obamacare :)

Meanwhile, the economy is coming back, as reflected by the gains in the stock market in 2012 and 2013 so far. Hmm... :hmm:

The retailers closing are totally predictable. They are in aging business models that no longer are competitive with internet-based companies selling the same service. Some of these companies have poor management. In some cases, they products they sell are slowly becoming obsolete.

Office Max is not actually doing very well.

"No moat" means Office Max has no unique products, service, or business model capable of distinguishing themselves from competitors, or able to keep competitors out of their market space.

I'm still paying back Barnes And Nobles store online under paypal in thousands of dollars.

Would I still need to pay back in event of their business collapse? lol...

I'm sure that I would have to under the law.
