 True, DoVip -- it's cottage...if CSDF had remained at Berkeley -- THEN it'll be dorms. But, hey! It doesn't really matter cos we know what was being said. ;)

Oh, ok.

On a first night of spring semester at CSUN, I felt very first earthquake and aftershocks at 4.2. It was amazing!!! My Californian ex-roomates thought I was a freak when I squealed and jumped up and down while watching the TV news about earthquake.
What did it felt like:
I SAW the wall moving, I was sitting on the couch which touched the wall and I could see it moving like waves. The whole room I was in felt like I was living in a cardboard box and someone outside was shaking it. I hope my explanation is clear enough to understand how it felt like at 4.2.

2nd earthquake I felt when I was at school lounge in the morning within 3 days after the first one!

True, Fly -- you've got a point there...BUT, I think we have a bigger percentage of chance in surviving a quake than in fire, flood and tornadoes.
All in all, I think I wish there were NO natural disaster to ever grace the surface of earth -- it's part of nature. Nothing we can do about it nor complain about it.

I disagree in this.. reason... Tornado, we can predict it will happen.. then go to basement or someplace safe. There's almost no one get killed from tornado. Flood.. yeah probally will get killed by drowning. but many people are prepared having life jacket, reusue team will provide life jacket, boats etc..

Fire, people will leave the city by order of government, if there's forest fire. but house fire unexpectlly, yeah lot of people die from that druing sleep.

*shivering* I know earthquakes can both be scary and exciting at the same time. If it isn't a major one, it gets exciting watching the walls trembling and rumbling, etc.

That's ok, DS98 for disagreeing with me. I am not all that familiar in dealing with tornadoes and the likes because I haven't lived in those areas where it's prone to have tornadoes, and the sorts.

Fire is always unpredictable, but bush fire, it's sad to watch a forest burn, but like you said it can be possible to evacuate ahead of time before the fire reaches the next destination.

Yeah fire, earthquakes and tornados all sound dangerous. I've never experienced any of those natural disasters yet, although there have been quite a few bushfires near where I live as it is a hilly area. And I also live out of the flood zone so those natural disasters won't be happening where I live. :)

Javapride-

I'm wondering what if there's valanco entriupt <-- spell? in hawaii.. I know it happens often in hawaii and i'm feeling that's more dangerous than earthquake am i right?

eruption is the spelling and yes there is and one is active on my island its known as mauna lea the mauna loa is inactive now, we have two siren warnings on our island one s for tusami and one's for the volacano, and have them on tv as well, but yes u are right it is the most dangerous one ever, vitrually no one can get off the island quickly BUT, if prewarned they will have airlines standing by via milatary to evacuate the island, in prevention ( i for one dont see why people will be willing to live on an island thats evdient that it will erupt any time) we had a minor lava eruption last april I arrived a week later after that, and i have already made preplans if any eruptions happens im off the island in no time flat. and will return to the mainland.
