Ear Mold did a weird thing last night.....

___
That is all. I know I sound like a fussbudget on the cleaning but it is a habit and it works. Again this is just what I do and have done for many years. There are always new things to learn. People have lots of good ideas.

yeah you sound just a little bit OCD ;) haha I kid

Some good advice in there though thanks!! I wonder if those ear planes will work for me, I'll try them next time. I have otosclerosis and one of the things about it is my ear drums not adjusting to pressure changes well (bones hardened) they might help though worth a shot! My head always feel real strange when I fly, luckily I don't fly often!

Sounds really uncomfortable. Like too much seal. It is bs anyway the excessive seal. If it is a good seal where it goes in the ear canal that is where the action is the rest of it is just to hold firmly in place. It does not make sense to me they want it like part of the seal. Oh well I am not the audi just a fellow sufferer.

Be careful using alcohol to clean the molds. It can damage them due to drying.

I wonder if the mold needs a cleaning? if it has waxy or slippery substence it can create heck alot of suction. have you tried cleaning it yet ? if you did have you put a tiny bit of vaseline or neosporin on the mold and see how it feels?

When I first got them I used neosporin, and then a healing ointment I got for my tattoo, because I had sores in my ear. I haven't used that stuff in awhile. I cleaned them last week. I try, I say try cuz I forget a lot, to clean them once a week. I pop the tubes off the aid and soak the tubes and molds in warm water with antibacterial dish detergent. So no, not particularly icky :D

Not related to your ear molds, but for your next tattoo, reach for Bactine. CVS has it's own brand, same ingredients and it works wonders. Any time I feel one of my earlobes acting up from my ear rings, this works wonders. I have the bad misfortunate to be sensitive to fashion jewlrey so all my ear rings must be gold or sterling silver. When I got my navel pierced, this is what they recommended and I find it works great. I'm surprised the person that did your tattoo didn't mention it....

I think that's what it is, it's the walmart generic brand though, bactine sounds really familiar though, it's in a large pot type container, like they use for thick creams, but it's an ointment.

k just ran upstairs and looked, prob sounded familiar because of bacitracine....but the stuff I have that was recommended by my tattoo artist...it's generic aquaphor. It worked great! I didn't even scab.

No, it's a liquid. The Neosporin is a gel...it works as well but the Bactine is very effective and not as messy. You only need a little of it applied with a q-tip or paper cloth to the affected area. Any time I feel an earlobe acting up, works like a charm and I think faster ....I apply Neosporin on the ear ring just to avoid irrating the area but Bactine is what really does the job.

I think I might look for some just for this one sore in my ear that won't quite go all the way away!! Some days it's better than others, it will seem like it's almost gone...then bam it's back.

I'd give the Bactine a try with your ear. Soak a q-tip with it (just enough to wet it but not to drip down into your ear) and rub it over the area. Let it dry somewhat and I'd do this twice a day: once in the morning and once at night. Might work better for you than the gels. If it really bothers you, you might also try dipping a cloth in warm salty water and just soaking it, dry it off and put a little Bactine on it and sleep on it. If it works for piercings, why not this? Salt water heals too....

I and my daughters inherited my mom's sensitivity to cheap metals. And here we thought she just said she was sensitive as an excuse to buy the good stuff. :giggle:
I'll have to tell my girls about your suggestion. I rarely wear jewelry and when I do, it's the good stuff.

Anyway last night I go to pull it out and it was like suctioned into my ear. When I pulled it it actually pulled my ear away from head and I could feeling it pulling on my ear drum, or something in my ears. it flipping hurt, it still hurts. I did have to slide my finger in between my mold and my ear to break the seal the suction had on it.

Is that odd? That's never happened before, could have been from the pressure changes during flight from Boston to Myrtle Beach?

Not many folks do this, but I had a couple buddies back in college that had solid molds with a very small vent hole near the bottom. Hole was probably about the same diameter as a pin. I wonder if it helped break the suction in the canal part, as the hole was not venting that far inside, but right near it.

They were HOH and did not require gigawatts of power....plus, back in the '80's our molds were as big as our heads.
