The house of Madden really wants the house of GTA.
by Daemon Hatfield
March 28, 2008 - The saga continues. Electronic Arts (EA) has extended its offer to buy Take-Two from midnight on April 11 to 11:59 p.m., April 18. EA says the extension is in response to action taken by Take-Two on March 26, including putting a "poison pill" in place and pushing its 2008 annual meeting of stockholders back to April 17. Investopedia describes a "poison pill" as a method companies use to discourage hostile takeovers. The goal is to make its stock less attractive to the buyer. The two types of pills include:

1. A "flip-in" allows existing shareholders (except the acquirer) to buy more shares at a discount.
2. The "flip-over" allows stockholders to buy the acquirer's shares at a discounted price after the merger.

For its part, EA continues to consider its offer to buy Take-Two at $26 a share (64 percent more than the stock's closing price on February 15) is a fair offer. The proposition was originally made on March 13, but Take-Two has repeatedly refused the offer.

No way, I would hate if EA want buy Take-Two, EA is just enjoy to screw their business.

Take-Two, Don't take EA's offers and just keep refuse so repeatly until EA give up.

I agree.

I've done a lot of research on EA for my business analysis and finance management graduate courses at RIT. EA does a lot of dirty business. They have a history of buying out other companies and then give them strict deadlines resulting in games that contain too many glitches. When that happens, that company looks bad and ends up getting shut down against their own will. :(

Yes EA should buy game company like GTA.. I love EA's skate games. If EA bid GTA, so people will love EA GTA games, it could be beat Saint row games on market..

EA is well-known for their sports games. They've always done well since those games are easy to make. They basically duplicate the previous version and fix it up a little bit.

GTA isn't a sports game. It's a huge project that requires time and patience. That's not something EA is well-known for. I've read reports where EA would force some companies to rush certain games. If those games don't come out right or have too many mistakes, then EA will blame that company and that company gets shut down.

A lot of private game companies take their time to ensure that their games don't have mistakes.

No, EA has more issues with their companies than just for good game only, recently games from EA is more crappier than in last 8 years, such as NFS, NBA Street, NFL Street, Madden and other games, Skate is alright to me but not perfect, neither is TH Proving Ground. In numerous of gamer's opinion that Madden and Nascar are used to best in 90's and early 2000's since EA is starting more crappier now.

If EA buys Take-Two then it wouldn't make GTA better, it's just same or more crappier, EA is just like MS about monopoly and cares about share, even doesn't care about game industries, EA based games are run so more crappier on PS3 because of developers don't know how to rewrite into cell processor but they used Xbox 360 based game to port on PS3 and gamers are notice about bug issues, that make PS3 looks bad, such as Skate has issues on PS3 version but nothing on Xbox 360 version. EA is seriously needed to improve the QA for future games and listen to gamer's complaint.

Hate to say, you really can't make GTA to be 100% identified as Saints Row, I rather to see difference than just similar, even GTA series had received excellent reviews, I'm applauding at Take-Two for improve of GTA since last 7 years ago when GTA 3 came out in 2001, that's far improved than original GTA. Both of GTA and Saints Row are supposed to be difference, I can careless if GTA don't offers custom appearance but it's still excellent without like that, more higher than Saints Row, GTA IV would receive about over 9.0 on IGN or Gamespot after release on April 29.

Yup, gotta agree with you. :)

Vam, Hahah :P How about black, Goldern eye, 007'series, MOHseries, others arent a sport game? I love black, Goldern eye, MOH series, those are great games.

I understand whats your point is that EA force some companies rush devep games to complete without check it before selling games. Yes I know EA should not like that.

Yeah I heard alot of people complaints about EA sport games always repeative with few imporvments for years. I see millions new/ used xbox (not 360) ea sport games on shelf at pawn or game store. I was like what the waste!

its old news, Becuase I heard this before.. like people had saying this to me. EA sport games problem is their problem. I tell you, I rarely buy EA games, but most time I buy EA MOH, 007, like volience games.

Didn't EA make SKATE better??

I don't worry about Saint row or Gta.. which one of game is suit on you, you should be happy to play the game than waste it as sit on shelf to collect the dust. If you want to buy GTA, then get one to play it whats kind of game suit for you. ;)

I tell you, I remembered that UNREAL is WORST games, it always bugs and glitches like incompleted game than EA. But I love unreal games

EA got very lucky with some of their non-sports games.

Black was actually made by Criterion Games.

Medal of Honor and GoldenEye were made by DreamWorks.

When these companies succeed on their games, EA takes over and continues on their own as if it was their game all along. While I may like some of their games, I do wish that they would stop trying to take over. Having those other companies are the reason for keeping our creative minds open. :)

Hell no on EA buying Take Two. I would rather for Take Two and Rockstar to stay independent. Once GTA4 comes out on April 29, EA will be unable to takeover Take Two cause the price per share will just skyrocket and y'all know how profitable GTA was for Take Two and Rockstar. $26 a share after April 29 will just be a joke.

But I have a belief that EA wants Take Two is because of Rockstar's new game engine "RAGE" that replaced Criterion's Renderware game engine in GTA4. After GTA4 with that RAGE engine comes Midnight Club 4: Los Angeles using the same RAGE engine.

And I LOVE Rockstar's games more than I do EA games. If EA takes over Rockstar, innovation gets thrown outta the window.

EA is already on the top. The only other way they can go is down. So, they're doing anything to stay on top.

Yeah, not only to mention that they have a terrible work ethic from what people say. I used to know a deaf guy who worked as a tester at EA. He had nothing nice to say about them.

Yep. There was a lawsuit against EA years ago because EA was forcing their employees to work more without overtime pay. They ended up working 50 to 60 hours every week with no increase in pay. I think it was settled out of court. :dunno:

Ugh, that's not cool.

Their employees can be exempt, known as salaried? It cannot get overtime paid if they are salaried or exempt.

Oh yes, I remember reading the story on this one. It's quite outrageous.

Whether they're exempt or not... abusing it can get out of hand.

Salary is based on "full time" scheduling.

If your salary is $30,000 a year, that's about $14 an hour. They would expect you to work on average of 40 hours a week. Of course, there will be times when there are emergency projects or deadlines... so some people work extra. Then there's also when they completed a huge project and get to leave early. Either way, the overall average is about 40 hours a week.

The problem with EA was that they were forcing their employees to work extra hours plus weekends.

I rather Rockstar to be on their own. They are already doing pretty good with afew games so far thanks to the GTA series.
