Does anyone have this function on their laptop/computer? DVD-RW? Is it worth it? Soon, I'll be getting that as part of my laptop this coming Friday or next Monday.

I would appreciate if anyone could comment on it?

well, i do know some media wont work on standard DVD-player, it's fairly new so i'd wait a bit longer when the price of DVD-RW and media get cheaper and more choice to choose.

http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvd for more infomations about different type of media and DVD writers

hope it help

more memory on a disc to copy for back-up... :D

For everything from your Hard-Drive? :eek2:

When I backup only personal files instead programs on CD, it average 250 to 400 MB.

Unless, you are into bigger movie stuff...

if u want save some files or whatever, go for cd rw and if u plan save some dvds movie from internet then use dvd rw

I will be backing up some movies I have downloaded.. For instance "Shaolin Soccer" and few other movies.

Oohh! That's a good movie! :thumb: I've already burned that movie to DVD. Only 300 mb for the whole thing!

I am currently using an HP Laptop with DVD-RW.. I'm simply satisfied with it :)

I'll borrow some anime movies from some friends to copy.. They are too expensive to buy and rare to get.. As for other movies. I can get that for cheap or just borrow from friends to watch them..

You burned a 300 mb file on a dvd-r or dvd-rw?

If it was dvd-r...that would be awful wasting the disc?

Dvd-rw..oh it's not a bad deal even though more stuff could be added later.

I thought it should be 3 GB for up to 2 hours of movie?

I know someone who burned 10 of 2 hour movies onto a single sided dvd disc.....all of the movies were divx compressed.

No...it's a waste to burn 300 mb on a 4.7 gig dvd-r. I would rather to fill up the disc to make it worth its money.

Dvd-rw discs are different story.
