I am feel concerned what was happening about DVD CC settlement, so I
sent to letter to
dvdsettlement@themillsfirm.com

And I sent a letter, if it was approved or not.

I got a letter from DVD CC settlement lawyer from
Boltz:

"Hi, CCfan. Good to hear from you. The settlement was given
final approval on 8/28/06. So, there should be millions of DVDs with
captioned special features on the market within 10 months.
I hope you will take the opportunity to enjoy them!"

WOW! I am very happy that settlement is approved!

I have to comments to say: It's wait for 10 months and them will
coming in June-July 2007 to be closed-captioning on bonus
features for 5 years until the year of 2012.
This settlement has been won, so now, Warner Bros., MGM, Universal Pictures,
Buena Vista Entertainment, and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment

so now I can't wait to see the movie called "Spiderman-3" may be closed-captioned on bonus features. :applause: :dance2:

That is the power of being an activist, sending letters and signing petitions. Awesome !!!!! :) :thumb:

Only the dummies would be happy with the settlement. It really pays to look at the fine print of the settlement. You'll find that there's some destructive elements in it. We filed our exclusions from the settlement and we will proceed on with a separate class lawsuit.

Nesmuth,

I sent with my letters through e-mail about DVD captioning settlement. I asked what happening if it has final approval that would be granted and he said, This is settlement is granted for this settlement; that is mean approved
for requirement of these captioning on bonus features.

That obviously there is within 10 months will be closed-captioning
on bonus features will starting on June-July 2007.

I was think that this settlement was done? But maybe not. Because you already
tell me. Oh, well. It's may not be done yet? I dunno. I don't know, if
this is officially or not. I will wait and see. I can't wait to hear if it
become true or not. I need to know what it would be happening?

I hope you will have a great day.

I don't doing anything with a petition or activist, but just a sending letters through e-mail to Boltz that is their settlement against Warner Bros., MGM, Sony Pictures, Buena Vista, and Universal Pictures.
This is an obviously thing; so now they have agreement with Boltz that must be closed-captioned
for bonus features for 5-year term of this settlement.

I am wish I am not dummy, I am trying to make sure if I am officially, I don't want to make mistakes.
If I was mistaken, I should be sucked, at same time, I will upset until
we will see what they have an announcement if they are approved or not for requirement on bonus features to these studios should be agreements with Boltz.

Lionsgate need get subtitles too.

Hi CCfan, That is fine, writing a letter can sometimes help.

Hi Nesumth, I don't think CCfan got an e-mail that had a fine print included into it but that can be good and helpful to always check out the fine print if they do have one. It never hurts to ask see the fine print.

Hi Volcomskatz, All DVD's need subtitles. I have seen quite a few Lionsgate films on DVD and I was not very impressed. There are better film making companies out there that can really make some really good quality films. It would be nice to see all the DVD's have subtitles.

You must love Lionsgate because they make alot of movies about race color, it seems not good.

Look at that, I am serious. I am not lying. I never lying for many years. Because, I know that lying is a sin, therefore, I don't want to take a sin that which
is against God offense. :nono: Anyways, I have a e-mail letter from Boltz in
my e-mail by Yahoo!.

I need a proof on this here. Look here-- copy and paste...:deal:

But what about after a message "Take Care" he forget sign his name
Boltz or someone has been said. :aw:

By the way, we hope for Boltz will win on this settlement! :fingersx:
That could make a millions of deaf and hard-of-hearing will
enjoy bonus features instead of main-feature.

But I am not fan of Lionsgate. Because it is for me that wasn't
too much interesting except "Godsend", and few
films from Lionsgate.

What about Fox. This is my favorite film studio, sadly, it won't be closed-captioned on bonus features including: Simpsons,
Prison Break, and etc. However, I have The Simpsons: The 5th
Season
from UK. This is a set have English SDH on all bonus features of this set from Region 2 as UK.
You need to be region-free DVD player.

Can you say what the problems are with the settlement as it stands now? I haven't seen the document, but two problems I can see right off the top are:

1. I don't know if "bonus features" cost extra. If so, that's against one of the principle of the ADA, which says that users should not be charged for accessibility features.

2. The six year lag time for captioning all DVDs is unnecessary and excessive, given the technology.

You really believe these settlements will actually bring in captioning to the DVD's? It's more like a shot in the dark the way the settlement reads out.

Richard

Relax, man I never said anything about you lying and I believe you, man !!!!

I am fine with my relax, I don't worry about it. I sure I hope it will
win against the settlement, I hope I am right.

By the way, if this settlement get win. I love to see TMNT film 2007 will be including with
bonus features on DVD. But for before releasing on this DVD,

First: This is movie will set in theaters on March 2007.

Second: waiting for about this takes 5-6 months to release, but sometimes
for others about 3-5 months to release these DVDs.

Three: If this movie would been after same as least July-August 2007. It will required to closed-captioned on bonus features on the five years of this settlement.

If this settlement lost, it won't be closed-captioned on these bonus features on this movie.

However, if won but if this gets before this least, won't be closed-captioned on
bonus features, so I won't to be enjoy this movie with
bonus features without CC!

Can someone please fill me in on what this is about? I'm getting mixed messages here...this means ALL DVDs will be captioned? This means that all captioned DVDs with extras will also have the extras captioned, too?

This is the basis of my love/hate relationship with Criterion. I love a lot of the movies they put out, but I hate them because for the higher prices they command. The extras are not captioned and I am only getting half my money's worth for their more expensive discs. It pisses me off about the regular movies not having captions on the extras, too, but not quite to the extent that Criterion does It INFURIATES me that the older TV shows (DARK SHADOWS, anyone?) and the majority of interesting-looking documentaries are not captioned. That is why I would like clarification on what this is about. If someone could point me to a link or web page I'd be grateful.

respond to me. OK. ;) This is a championship of DVD captioning by Boltz.

Does this settlement also apply to Blu-Ray and HD-DVD? The new HDTV version of DVD that just came out this year?

2012 is an awfully long time, and some of us may not be using DVD anymore...

Them does not apply to Blu-ray or HD-DVD for this settlement, unfortunately.

2012 is great for long time! I will using DVD anymore until 15 years later, I suppose think so...?

I heard about HDTV version of DVD-- it is called HD-DVD;
or something comes from Blu-ray that only supplies to high-definition
sound, and picture. see at dvdempire.com and scroll down to end, look at guide about HD-DVD and/or Blu-ray about what are differences of
HD-DVD, and Blu-ray.

or look at wikipedia.
