Dumb access denial excuses for your service dog

LMM don't see her SERVICE DOG as a fun topic... Her dog is here for a purpose! To do a job. Her service dog knows what her job is, and takes pride in doing so!
When LMM corrects her dog, That's her responsible, No one's esle! Yes she have had people try to correct her dog. She gets mad when she trys to tell them back off! They are a team ! This what makes their bond more pure .
She carry with them her lil black book, Which is Right's Law's of Service dog's.
People that have pet dog's see her correct her dog, Think shes being crule to service dog! Which by no means she is! If you have a service dog, You know the true hard work put into service dog's, And why wash it down a drain, Because of someone's stupidility!
When her service dog not on work, LMM & her play differnet then pet & owner ! This also make's their bond stronger..
Service dog's not toy's, Not pet's! They are working dog's!Point blank as LMM would say.
They have been many place's , On T.V. have met many people in last years.
She will never trade her life for a millon dollar's!
To look back on what LMM & her service dog have done, I applaud everything
they have done for our community. They have open many door's & eye's in our community.They have changed how people and/or bussiness treat service dog's!Sure wasn't because of fun treatment they recived!It was her hard determintion. She had to go over the top of people and/or bussiness!

During the fliming they had doctor's & specialist from out of state join in on the show. The specialist had LMM on an EEG machine. They knew she was in seizure active. They were amaze her sercive dog knew before they did! This was all caught on tape!
with all what LMM have live with, She still wakes up on the right side of bed with a smile at the sunshine!
LMM would like to see picture of your service dog Pete. She have a golden retrive. Her dog does wonderful job for her,. she learns LMM Language from her monthly. yes her dog does understand her Language just beautiful !

LMM, I'm not doubting the language skills, never have, which is NOT a putdown or insulting, okay? Why should the people here NOT listen to LMM? I think her and I are a lot alike, although I get very frustrated with people and accessibility. I was challenged like you would not believe at a Wal*Mart store in Hastings, Minnesota yesterday afternoon. Three managers wanted "certification" paperwork, one said a friend of hers trains dogs and it is required, she would not budge. I called the police, will not deal with this kind of silliness. They have, even though the manager was apologetic at noon today when he called me back, lost my business. I have been in this store numerous times and have never had a problem. I will be testing the store again Friday, as I will be back in town there for a meeting that afternoon.

I presume, Relay, that when you are at work and doing the tty, that you type as how the client talks, not how a language interpreter would? Instead of saying, "LMM said..." you would say, "I said..." meaning, that is what LMM/client said verbatim, correct? I've used relay on occasion, as I have student loan lenders who are complete morons and I can't talk to them one the phone, as they try my patience.

Does your have MUST have a cerficate, like for example my family dog does not have one and it do bark at door to get my attention or he nudges for my attention when there is noise and someone is calling my name. and i took him to my place and landlord said NO and this lady that works with dogs says i have the right no matter what..what so i do??
 
This have taken us time to think how to answer this. Why? because LMM & I have seen lurkings here and other message boards. Read respone's about service dog's, How they can gain access with their "PET" dog claim to be service dog. Only they may not understand it's agaist the law. They can be fined & court cost.
Now to answer your questions.
No your service dog doesn't need to be certified. but when you train or have your dog train for being your service dog, It helps to do when they are puppy's. Because if you are very confronted by ADA , ADA will know if this is a pet or service dog! The two are very differnet from each other, Even they have the same blood line. service dog's have long hard hours of training, where your pet dog may never see this kind of training.
Service dog go in resturants, When you are eating you don't want your service dog eating everything off the floor or begging for food. Plus people food put weight on your service dog, over weight is not good or health for your service dog!
You really don't want to train your dog any aggression behavior's! This is what happens too offen when teaching your your dog to be protect of! If she/he hasn't had the proper training. Here again key answer "Proper Training".
Also playing your tug-of-war with your dog teach's bad manner's!

You need DEMAND police officer to take your report. It's your right to have police officer hold up the law. If not, go to police department ask to speak with chief of police. Tell him/her your name what happen where date . If police office show up get his/her name give this to chief. Now if LMM have has this happen too, She would let public know what happen. By going to local T.V Newspaper. We bet you tell Chief this, Something will be done!
You have right to shop at that store, they have no bussiness ask you any

For your information, any local police department does not enforce for federal laws but state laws...

All you have to do is to contact U.S. Dept of Justice (not FBI)

I was very upset with the Walmart in Hastings and will do a followup visit this week, as I will be in town again. The manager was very apologetic, but, I think 16-years is sufficient time for these people to get into compliance.

May I also note that service dogs are trained to the "T" for the person they will be working with. Snickers was actually my pet before she became my hearing dog. I'm even more strict with her now than anyone and watch her like a hawk. Would you believe that some girl put her younger sibling down directly into Snickers face to pet her this past Saturday afternoon? The people were really shocked when I confronted them ("What are you doing? This is a service animal, don't touch!"). This is exactly what I said. I also say, on occasion, that I am NOT responsible for dog bites if someone gets bit and didn't ask permission. These women that were with this girl were clearly looking to get their child bit so they could gain some money, which is something that people with service animals have to look out for, unfortunately.

Depends on what it is...if its narcotics and such, then we can charge at the federal level. When it comes to ADA, that is not something that we enforce in our department (we will respond and explain to the business owner if there is some sort of dispute). Its almost like building codes. Building codes are considered law, but its not enforced by the police. It would be enforced by Inspections and Permits (only using this as an example).

ADA law is enforced by several different agencies. Here is a list I have taken from DOL's website:

Know it's late, But this matter is now very important!
Let mme take time to expain a few trhings.
1 your state is under a law that protect your right more then maybe some may know!
As I have told you Demand your police department take formal complaint. That way your General Attorney office will get your complaint's! They will take legal action!
Also I would go back to Walmart.. Take pictures if they have a sign on their doors " Service Animals Welcome Here " this could be used in court of Law, More then maybe someone may think!
Police office can/will let party that violate ADA law, Know what they are up agaist if they don't apply! Most time the party will apply, Because they don't want to battel in a courtroom.
When you call ADA hotline they will check out your issue, Then they will contact you with an Attorney in your city and/or State !
Also Pete, I advice you to contact your State Governor, He/she may help you also! You bring this kind of issue up with them, You be surprize how much help you may recive.

Wake up Walmart

If you want to file a complaint against Walmart you need to go to:

to file a complain for access denial of a service dog.

I am a member of a service dog organization in Florida that has been to the State Capitol to fight for our rights and have the state statutes changed to reflect the ADA laws. Yes, federal supercedes local but try getting the wrong police officer that doesn't want to be bothered. If you get a police officer that doesn't want to file a written complaint for you, be nice, and ask for his/her superviser. You can be nice and persistent. I know its hard but everyone that takes the proper stand now helps other people down the road. I guess you could say we are paving the way. If you need to file a complaint with the ADA you have to submit a written complaint to:

Department of Justice
Civil Rights Division
950 Penn. Ave. N.W.
Disability Rights Section - N.Y.A.V.
Washington D.C. 20530

If you are asked to leave a place don't stand there and argue, leave and call the police. Let the police do the arguing for you. That way you cannot be accussed of civil disobedience. It doesn't hurt to have a copy of the ADA laws along with a copy of your state's statute pertaining to the use of service dogs with you. If you live in Florida it is Florida Statute 413.08.

If your state statute doesn't reflect the ADA, start writing letters to your congressmen asking that it be changed.

I did a follow-up visit Friday night and a greeter in a w/c stopped me, demanding certification. The police was already outside, so I had him take a police report. I also informed the manager on duty that they failed and a complaint will be filed against them.
 
My response to this would be...... they are hearing dog. People don't need assitnace whem they go outside of their home. Outside of their comfort zone is when the assistnace is needed meost.

With all due respect, I noted that you are a "hearie." Hence, those of us here on alldeaf.com who have hearing/service dogs do know what we are talking about. As I've said numerous times, Snickers is my second set of ears. I would never trust a hearie to do the job my hearing dog does. I'm also very visual, but there are still things that get past me that my dog picks up on. As one of my audiologists told me one time, "Every little bit helps." Indeed it does!

On another note, I don't know if LMM is capable of carrying and/or handling a sidearm, but I would recommend it. I don't (yet), but I do know of a psychiatrist on od-dogs that does, as he's been severely assaulted many times and, basically, has no other choice than to pack a handgun. I have carried pepper spray with teargas in the past and will probably carry it again for my own safety.
 
Are service dogs allowed to live in condos that do not permit dogs? Can they kick me out of i have a service dog?

They absolutely can live there and you absolutely cannot be kicked out for having a service dog. I am not a lawyer, but service dogs have a level of protection that non-service pets do not have.
