Wow. How hard if we want to switch the chip from IBM to MAC? How much it cost to buy a Dual Core? (Dual Core 2?)

I don't care if it is Hackintosh-ed. I think that we could choose to use a different system on an Atom Intel netbook as long as we can do our own laptop that shouldn't be a problem. I think that it is just cool.

Nice job on this project.

I do laptop repairs too and also I modded some laptop like better video card chipset in older laptop to run Aero in Windows 7.

Cool! I wish I could have done that on my Acer Aspire 5040 laptop! My Laptop do not have a socket that allow swapping out video chipset (it does have 2nd blank spot for video socket). ATI Xpress 200m is soldered to the board. I posted the blog some time ago about my laptop video chipset w/ pictures. I wanted to swap out to Xpress 1300m to work with Linux (I've found newer Acer Aspire 5040 with Xpress 1300m grrr!!). But now, I don't need to because Ubuntu 9.10 "karamic Koala" finally fixed those problems including Acer's ACPI and Atheros Wireless that used to require compiling with couple of Linux drivers to turn wifi on.

Now I'm a happy Ubuntu camper.

I just found new information about Dual Core netbook. I read that it runs hot. Haelron reported that performance on Dual Core Atom isn't what they expected.

Intel doesn't want any manufacturer to use Intel Dual Core Atom for netbooks. Cuz of heat issue.

So I am not expecting to get Atom netbooks at all but now looking into Dual Core Intel or AMD 12" Laptops. I found one Called Darter Ultra Linux Laptop 12.1 inch with everything in including webcam.

I just want 12" laptop, not wide 15.4" laptop that I have. I need something small, portable and powerful and easy to see on screen.
It's a custom made Laptop. Though it's close to $800. Better than buying Sony VAIO for $1,400 12" laptop :eek2:

Darter Ultra - Ubuntu Linux Laptop - 12.1 inch - system76, Inc.

It's a Linux Laptop and I still can dual boot with Windows anyway. Something to think about :hmm:
