My audiologist said that I should put my CI processor and coil in the Dry & Store kit every night, but I have heard that other people use it like once a week or several times a week...so I am just wondering how often do most people tend to use the Dry & Store kit for their CI?

I don't have one yet but when I do then I will come back and post it here. I should put Dry & Store on my Christmas list :fingersx:

I don't have Dry & Store but I do have a carry case with built-in dri-aid for my Auria BTE by AB.

Yes, I do put in there every night unless I wear it to bed.

About twice a week unless I get real sweaty. In that case, it is guaranteed to go in the dry & store that evening. Here in NC, that happens a lot during the warmer weather.

I guess every night would be best but I don't think about it all the time. Also, I don't want to "burn" through all my bricks quickly by doing it every night. They don't last all that long.

We put Lilly is about once a week. Some friends of ours (Lillys best friends parent) have encountered a problem with putting the freedom in the dri-store daily. First off, Lilly had her CI several months before her friend did. So Lillys equiptment has had more wear and tear on it. They noticed the plastic wire cover going from the processor to the coil has "rotted" and split. The audi staff had not seen that before. We did not have the same problem. They think it may be from daily dehumidifying. It dried out the plastic and made it brittle, causing the damage.

Just last night, I noticed similar wear on Lillys ci. But as said above, the damage took several more months than the other one.
So, there may be too much time in the dri-store.

BTW, does anyone know where you can get the dri bricks for the dri store brand at a decent cost?

Yea, I been trying to find out too! I think we are held to a captive market here...:(

If you find out, let us know!

I only use it when I get too sweat from cleaning, etc especially summer time too much sweat. I put it in there to keep it overnight. I dont use it everyday. No..

SR, there are several places to get them, but I have never needed it until recently. Let me look, I'll post a link when I find something.

Same here in Missouri. I would imagine the dry-store company has a contract with Nucleus in which they put the dry store product with every CI they sell.

I did a bew search for the "dry-brik". It seems the best price you are going to get is from the maufacturer. They are about $3.00 each. From what I saw, they sell them in packs of 6 for around $19.00.

Dry & Store Hearing Aid Conditioning System

I sent them an email trying to find a local retailer. I may find out more then.

I finally bought my dry and store right before my birthday few weeks ago, I have been using it when I sweat alot.. I wouldnt use it daily, as I dont believe in daily that helps Unless you sweat daily like in Summer or Hot days!

its much better than these portable bag dri aid :)

Lilday, I got 5.00 discount if I order in bundle for these dri bricks to go with my dry and store proffesional, to save me money from spending more on the shipping. Not bad deal, so I have plenty of them for a year or so. who knows for how long, it's still in package :)

I have purchased them online, from here I think.....Dry & Store Hearing Aid Conditioning System

I actually bought the professional model about 5 yrs ago to dry my HA's. Works great, that was bought from here to, I think.

I do know I havnt' tried this one and don't need any right now so I'm not going to figure out which is cheaper. :) Hearing Aid Dryers Dehumidifiers and Disinfection from Dry & Store and Moisture Guard

dry and store also has a web page Dry & Store Hearing Aid Conditioning System and it looks like you can purchase off there. They also have a form where you can put inyour email and zipcode to locate a local retailer, they email you the names of any businesses close to you who sell the things.

I prefer on line ordering. :)

JAG,
Scuba,

Thanks for the info. For some reason, I kept thinking these bricks were way more expensive like the parts for the CI. Don't get me started on that one....grrrr :pissed: It isn't that I needed anything for my CI...yet but it is the thought of paying outrageous prices for itty bitty little things. I have a couple of microphone covers and used up at least three so far and then the P675 battery insert on one CI cracked and I replaced that. Fortunately, I had extras of both but somewhere along the line I will have to order replacements.

Really ? What form do I file a tax deductable purpose for medical expenses ? It would be good to get some money back in addition to my work paycheck from the W-2 form. :fingersx:

I think that with using as adeduction on taxes you would have to be using the long form and itemized deductions. then when it comes to deductions I think you have to choose between the standard deduction or itemized. Something like that. If you file short form you don't do deductions like that.

I use mine every night because I put hair creams and products in my hair and don't want the moisture to affect the CI.
