Dramatic dog attack caught on video

I'm all for speaking out for animals and I'm a pretty peaceful person... but I agree with sonocatvio, if I was a parent and saw this dog coming at my child I would do everything to get that dog away from my child. I couldn't stand there, I would not hold back anything, no way.

I don't like to say which breed is good and bad. Dogs are dogs imo. It's how the owners raise them.

That muscular chest and wide front leg stance..pit bull terrier...and might have some Lab in it...(face)...strong dogs!

Ive wrestled a few dogs before, one tried to attack my mom in the city, we parked at the house she went to get out and a stray ran up to her door barking and growling, she screamed and shut the door, I got out went around, he lunged at me... I kicked it ( nice heavy work boots put the hurting on him, grabbed him by the back of the neck and tail, hurled him a good 10-15 feet, he never looked back. I always been a brute, I get bit, oh well I got bit but Ill go down with a fight...lol I guess being a single parent raising my daughter alone toughened me up, for I was very protective of her and my family, I still am. I am told I don't know my strength... probly not but it helps.
I love animals but if they are up to no good, that's a different story.

I think it's a pitbill. The person who was saving the girl thinks it's a pitbull.

*shrugs*

I give ZERO credence in the police knowing the breed as they only issued a summons for such an attack (regardless of breed).

The fact of the matter is... identifying a breed like that via such a poor quality video is near to impossible but honestly... you trying to claim that was a part Husky was where you lost your credibility with me. Huskys have a very fluffy tail. Like this...

I agree with you... regardless of any breed.

a husky mix can be many different looks look at alot shelter dogs fyi a mutt can look like a lab and have 25 percent husky blood in it but wont look like a husky but can have husky tendencies ... genetics

I would shoot dog right on spot. Sorry, I am dog lover too but this incident is not acceptable.

So if I understand you correctly... you ascertained that was a part-Husky in the video by watching his tendencies (which was chowing down on a four year old)?

They say a mutt is smarter than a full blooded breed?

Do you know why? I kind of do. It's because the pure-breds have been bred too closely to their siblings. Pedigree is a routine part of keeping them pure-breds. Pedigree is to dogs is what incest is to humans.

Yes, Ive heard similar.... also mix breeds have a wider range of knowledge and learning ability. Where the inbreed dogs are kind stupid like rednecks...lol Although pretty, they are like a smart blonde. Beautiful but dumb as a box of rocks. lol

Well, I have heard em too but... Since I have two dogs, one is pure breed and she ain't stupid. She knows how to open the door or whatever while her daughter is mix breed, isn't as smart as her pure breed mom. Took about 5 years for our mixed breed to figure out how to open the door. Mind you, it took her 5 years observing her own mom how she does these stuff, and finally figured only few of tricks. So, I don't know if this is true that pure breed aren't as smart as mixed breed.

It doesn't apply to all of them but some of them have certainly made me go... what... the... eff?! Poodles particularly. Plenty of smart ones but then... there's the one that's absolutely bonkers. Whether that's true or not but it sure seems to happen more often with pure breds.

not trying to be nosy just curious what breed is your pure breed? She sounds awesome!

 its fur is way wrong to be a pittie im aroud them often,

it looked like a shepherd mix if not lab or husky in it

Not necessarily, red nose pits share similar markings. Not exactly, but enough to say, "maybe."

That's possible. Not all are created equal. Some are dumb and some are smart. I am sure that we can find researches on this subject in internet.

My aunt had pure bred Spaniels, Take a picture with the flash on and they pee everywhere... Now I have a Jack Russle mix that my daughter took with her, never been trained but smart as a whip. Wont leave the property line no matter where we moved to, fetches and understands all commands. He is very old now with medical conditions developing, since my daughter is a vet tech she is taking good care of him.

So, I don't know if this is true that pure breed aren't as smart as mixed breed.

well here's the answer - false!

it's no different from saying a mixed Korean-American person is genetically/biologically smarter than a pure American.

the only advantage that a mixed breed has over a pure breed is being less susceptible to genetic disease.

yes. it's already been conducted by governments you're familiar with - Tuskegee Experiment and Nazi Human Experimentation. and hundreds of twin studies.

the result? false. all breeds are created equal. just because a person born black doesn't mean he has inferior intelligence. and plus - many geniuses and famous people who have had profound effect on human civilizations were born from dirt poor families with no education.

you are correct about one thing though - not all are created equal... people were born from rich or poor family. each individual was raised differently. et cetera. however... in terms of biology... all are created equal.... except Albert Einstein and Mike Tyson

Jiro is right. Pure-bred dogs are not "dumber" than mixed breeds - but they CAN be more prone to specific diseases or conditions affecting pure-bred dogs.
In general, dogs all learn through reinforcement and association, and what a dog is bred for, or the background mix of a certain dog - affects that. A dog bred to work alone and make more of their own decisions like the livestock guarding dogs or the sighthounds, may be more challenging to train because their history does not include them looking to humans as partners. That doesn't mean they are not "smart" or trainable. Sporting breeds like the Golden, and dogs like the super-fast Border Collie- have been trained to work with a person in the field and take direction from them. Dogs that are still heavily used in a working role of any kind like the Border Collie or any of the livestock guarding dogs <which are technically not the same as herding breed> will still be very "hard-wired" to do that role even if an individual dog has never seen stock.

Thats exact my saying.

:wtf:
Humans and dogs are comparable?
