Ooooh, nice!

I will have to talk to my VR....
You don't have to talk to your VR!! You can search it on the net and find it in your area(department of service for the deaf and hard of hearing) and then read the forms before you fill the applications out... Then you wait between 4-6 weeks only if you are egliable for the equipments. Please don't waste your time with the VR... Just search on the net just like I did even if you have to go under www.askjeeves.com and he will pull the site up for you or what your looking for... It's simple and easy! Im pleased with all my equipments and I know you would too!! :)

First you called your VR 'an asshole' but then you got a bunch of free device products equipments? :ugh2:

I guess you have to get on your knees and asking for forgivings. :giggle:

Your idea is very very very dangerous! Does not matter if it is indoor or not. It is the size of the conductor itself, it is NOT capable handle the current of 120v. This idea can lead to lawsuit liablity for personal injury and property damages. Also the building inspector can fine for this type of code violation. I had mine professional designed and installed hardwired. I did this for safety reason. Safety is always #1 priority to me.

I dont know of any program that gives these doorbell signal notification devices free. But you can improvise a similar system with about $8 dollars worth of materials from your local hardware.

My plan is good for indoor complexes that dont get any rain from the outside.

I'd like to know too...my old doorbell got stolen more than a year ago.

It got me wondering why they are interest to have your doorbell? Is it value or what? Stole things is not cool. :ugh2:

It sounds that you all have to pay doorbell, flashing light by your own pocket? No ADA cover the cost for you all?

I don't have doorbell devices for longest years.. One day I would love to have own doorbell devices.... I know CHS is ripppppoff pricey...
CHS= Canadian Hearing Society

I'd rather find reasonable pricey for doorbell device.. wireless preferable!

I understand perfectly clearly that these stuff is pricey. Yes it is pricey but it is NOT rip off. There is problem with these kind of stuff that made the price so high. The problem is what? Low production! When anything is manufactured with small or limited qualities they generally cost much more. Why? It has to do with tooling, cost of design, cost of development, those aren't cheap. Most of the time these kind of stuff would be able to handle huge volume, but again since its for deaf not enough would be sold at reasonable price with reasonable profit.
Perfect example here, you note that most tty machine average cost is 300 dollars a unit. It only has basic feature in there and it only recieves and transmit information though the hand, verses a computer which does far more than TTY can handle, but the price for computer is dirty cheap. That is because computer were manufactured in real large quanities and able to sell far more than what companies were able to sell TTY. So hence the "Law of supply and demand".

Actually...
CHS doing...

TTY PRICE: 300 bux
CHS want profit extra 200 bux..

Total 500 bux plus taxes more...
Depends products what r u buying..?

Compare w/USA and Canada...

I check w/Exchange currency funds compare the prices from CHS and other usa agency who selling the deaf devices...
Guess what, USA is reasonable price.... than CHS' amount of pricey.... totally ripppp off the pricey.. Why CHS want making profift themselves.... what heck?
CHS should know better than that because Deaf people having hard time to buy affordable the deaf devices.. why does CHS still help Deaf ppl any kinds name it...

CHS encourge them, to apply ADP and get approval the half price... to buy deaf device... Some of Deaf ppl who low income mostly get one those... espically who have good job salary but ADP will not coverage them.. WTF ?

Look rest of other Deaf Ppl who trying to save thier money to buy deaf device...
Which good thing, High popluation Deaf ppl who reliable buying in usa than CHS does!
FYI!

My design is safe and it's hardwired too. I have been doing this for over 25 yrs for my friends and clients. I have yet to hear a complaint or a problem from them.

DHB65, i seconded to you but please relax for a moment. Nesmuth, please list the parts here on AD that you purchased from the local hardware stores for about $8 also how do you install it?

i be happy to consult with someone who has the 2006 Standard NECA Electrical Code book to see if *all* of your parts and installation procedures are in compliance

Spill it now, Nesmuth dont wait delay or making other excuses Lives are at stake!

Your clients have no complaints? Maybe they don't know how to report a formal complain to the proper government levels as they are so deep complication with different departments so your clients gave up on them and live with it without complaining

I wouldn't dare use your plan. I do not want to put myself and my neighbors in danger by using your plan...never know, there could be a flaw that could cause a spark and then a fire...NO THANKS!

.... It got a remote. You just stuck it on your door/wall. it got a button. you click on it. it will send a signal to a lamp to go on and off.

If you want to use your vibrator as a doorbell signaler, it will work.
Anything you want to use as an indicator that somebody's at door, you can do.

Same concept. More freedom of which applicanes you want to use. (Lamp, strobe, disco ball, vibrator, whatever). Whole LOT cheaper.

Do you know where I can order a wireless doorbell only to be replaced? :dunno: I have been looking around and they are selling them in a set that goes with the strobe. Our strobe is working just fine. I have checked into Harris Comm and other through websites. We have the doorbell set of Trine model #34. Anyone know where I can get them? Don't bother to ask about the deaf services because I have asked them. We had them for about 4 years and I guess the doorbell is getting dirty from exposing to the outdoor environment. I have even replaced the new battery and does not work at all. :hyper:

If I have my own place, I would get a phoney security camera installed near ceiling so anyone can't touch it. Nobody would dare to steal a doorbell either.

1) Light bulb
2) Light bulb socket
3) Heavy duty wire w/ground
4) Doorbell button

and u can see the thing work in my video at;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnr3LEwkucE

And there's a lot of 'deficit thinkers' pecking on this simple improvision on this thread. I'm not going to let these kids play on me for creating a brilliant low cost improvision.

There happens to be a battery operated version of the whole assembly and it's used in places that do not readily have access to electricity like in Pakistan.
