'Don't ask, don't tell' policy ruled unconstitutional

Being able to be honest about their sexual orientation would prevent them being blackmailed about it.

Exactly.

Arkansas has a ban on gay adoption. While it isn't worded that way per se, it is geared towards preventing that from happening thanks to the Arkansas Baptist Convention and their cronies at Focus on the Family. The leader of this movement spoke at my church and I had the 'pleasure' of being front and center to his sermon. Midway through I was ready to throw my bible at him, literally. I should have just got up and walked out to show my disapproval.

Little did he know his 'enemy' was right before him.

Ditto here in FL, Dix. Anita Bryant, a well known actress in the 70s, got on her bully pulpit and proclaimed that gays were unfit to adopt children here in FL. As a result, a law went on the books stipulating such. Thanks to a very courageoous gay couple who wanted to adopt, this law either, has been, or will soon be history!

Your experience in that church is ironic, though, eh? In my opinion, throwing your Bible at him would have problem been a good idea! :giggle:

I'm SO thankful for this given the state of the foster care system in this country!

My bad.. She was a singer. At any rate, here's a source: Hope it doesn't make you puke!

I can't believe someone would do this to you. I'd have thrown the bible at him and walked out.

Yup, I agree with you.

I'm disappointed with Obama Admin and make more harder for me to trust them, however I prefer to have true gay friendly president with excellent experience on major of issues, such as responsible to control the spending, maintain the economy, solve the health care crisis, know how to work in bipartisan way, etc to make more for me to trust them.

Sometime, political is always hard to trust.

Get a scientist/engineer to be a president instead of a lawyer. USA has too much lawyers and we don't need any more of those. Maybe the country could be better off with a liberal and science-educated president to lead the way.

*sighs*

When will those idiots realize that giving love and care for children does not depend on sexual orientation at all?! Given that there's so many foster children and orphans, they do certainly deserve love and a place in a loving couple home that is so readily available for them, and a ban on gay adoption makes this so much harder. Idiotic conservative right-wing bible-thumping hypocritical lawmakers.

:gpost: Thankfully, here in FL, the law has been, or will be, overturned.
