I'm a strong 2nd Amendment supporter but I'm not totally opposed to permits to conceal. The way I see it, that's just a permit to conceal your weapon on your person. It doesn't prohibit your ownership of weapons. I understand that not having a permit could put a limitation on how you would carry your personal weapon at all times in public unless you live in an open-carry location.
I do support educating and training gun owners about the laws pertaining gun ownership and use, safety in handling and storing guns, knowing when to shoot in self defense and how to, and proficiency in drawing and shooting.
That's not a requirement for every state.
What about background checks? Would they still be required?
I also am for the proper training for carring, yet the issue I see with requiring a permit is that they is no requirement for the government to issue them. They can tell everyone no, then what? Technically the second is not being revoked... But the effect is the same.
But I contradict myself because I am for the background checks, permits, and really wish they would add minimal training like they do with driving a car before ownership or carring.
