Doggies Flyball , Finally some happy news !

:DFlyball is nuts...controlled chaos. I've watched at some of the local competitions. The dogs are super-revved up. The amount of herding-type and Lab-mix type dogs is no accident - these are dogs that are insane about ball and about activity and who would generally not do well in an average "pet" home. There aren't many Rotties in Flyball but my youngest actually would probably make a good participant in the more local and "for fun" level of Flyball, as she does LOVE ball and retrieves naturally, which is not common for a Rottie; she's also fast and little for the breed. But with her bad knee - even after it's repaired, not sure it's an activity she should try.

I'm glad you posted that, Whatdidyousay!

Finlay would had gone insane over this! I think he was born with a tennis ball in his mouth ! :laugh2: I thought this was a nice to end the news when it has been so tragic all week .

My lab would definitely participate in this as she is obsessed with any balls. My pit bull would just sit there and ignore the ball. She has no interest in chasing after balls or anything except for cats, birds, squirrels, or light.

Finlay was forever finding tennis balls and bringing them home , I had a ball filled with tennis balls. Went we walked by the tennis court there would sometime be a new tennis ball that got away and OMG Finlay eyes would light up ! I wish he was able to find money the way he found tennis balls !:laugh2: RIP beloved Finlay .

You're right, I thought this a very nice thing to post after all that news, too.

Shel, I remember my dear, gentle Black Lab boy who also loved balls, of course.
He like many Labs, retrieved naturally and played ball until he was probably about 11 or 12. He had terrible hips from what was probably a very young age <at least 2, when we did the x-rays> but that didn't stop him from chasing balls, and squirrels, rabbits, birds, raccoons....

I imagined how happy Finlay would be at seeing all those tennis balls around a tennis court, WDYS!....or what about all the golf balls on a golf course!

Finlay would had choked on a golf ball , he had big mouth and I had to be careful not buy balls too small for him to play with.

yeah, you're right, I thought about that after I posted. My Lab would definately have had the same problem.

One time I was walking around the neighborhood in our old area where we used to live, and there was a rummage sale. My Lab, Moose, was with me <here http://www.esmondrott.com/cagney.htm you can see his picture- he's with his pack sister, my first beloved Rottweiler, they're sitting in front of the fireplace in our old house>
Moose and I went to check out the rummage sale because it was in the person's driveway and Moose was a very gentle, easy-going and generally not very intimidating dog. The people having the sale included some 8-11ish yr. old kids and one of the sale bins had a bunch of stuffed animals in it, including some stuffed sports balls. One of the boys gave Moose a small stuffed <but appropriate-sized for him> soccer ball. I thought that was so kind of the boy to just my dog have it! He really loved that ball; when he went to the Bridge, that toy went with him.:aw:

Great sports for doggies!!! As long as doggies look happy then its all good! what about cats?? LOL!!!

:wave:yeah, i thought so, too -fairly common with dogs new to agility-
