I know getting insurance to pay for upgrade is nearly impossible. they usually make you pay out of pocket. I had to pay my freedom out of my pocket.

I did remove it implant I will back new implant I wish.., it is possible try new implant best tecnical , I hope be try best fix on my implant work.

I am convice to ENT. I do fight to Ent and Surgery person. I focus on cochlear implant. someone help you hear improve technical something your inside implant wrong problem. I expect to good hear you implant is not good magnet is not work then reimplant try best successfully.. I hope be wait patient till ENT. I want to upgrade hear and practice hear sound... That is really cool cochlear implant. I love Freedom...
 
You would be getting the Nucleus 5 implant not the freedom IF you got reimplanted. I don't think you should get your hopes up travis. Since your implant was removed as per your instructions I do not think they will pay again for you to get one when they already have and u wanted it out due to migraines etc. I hope that you can but I just don't see why they should say yes when not too long ago you wanted it removed.
 
I don't have migranie.. I am honest I am really convice to ENT. I fight to ENT... I know old ENT is always grumpy not nice attitude.. I know strong convice to new ENT. I expect to help you upgrade that is why reason good otherwise you help best chance strong help you courage to best do Nucleus 5 is awesome I will question and more deep on instruction importat to aware lots of important to explain to understand..
 
You say ,you get sick, headaches from your old implants .. sounds like youre allergic to it. then you say the magnet arent strong enough . you could always get stronger magnet for it. but since you got it removed. its likely you wont get re implanted again unless you pay it with your own cash. I;m sure surgeons more happy to re implant if you pay the full amount of money which we all know its not cheap.!!!!!
I would say just stick with hearing aids and ASL and get used to that lifestyle. Be happy of who you are. (with out CI)

I try best do fight to Ent. I am not sick because I am not headache, I am fine.. I know I guess try help better you ENT respect to you choice to decision right to option. They control said no. I think so ENT control that is why reason. I prefer my cochlear implant.

I believe trust to search find match to professioal strong, I beleive Professional is very friendly and support to respect to me. i wish be PM and. I am really terrible sad, I don't believe wrong problem you ignored to my friends. I am not happ with not fair to people. I know try best do chance you respect to me don't be critized to me. I am very bit upset I am bit sad. I don't understand you problem you chance I need to strong with us. I don't believe they are not support to me. I am shocked. From reading the above comments- my situation was entirely very different. I didn't have a "fight" with St Michaels' ENT Toronto- they "confirmed that I was deaf "and then referred me to Sunnybrook Cochlear Implant programme- immediately!
The original discussion. Feb/07. was with Amy Ng over 2 hours using a computer terminal.At that time agreed I was a suitable candidate for an Implant. I was deaf. I had a lot of Cochlear Implant info from newspapers /Cdn Hearing Society-Toronto. Ironical note: Had a Cochlear Corp patients Info booklet to help understand. the whole matter. Yeah never heard of Advanced Bionics or Med El-then.
Perhaps I was lucky! The choice of starting, of course, was mine along. I knew from CHS- I easily fit the criteria. Which is what happened in the end. No complaints from me- 3 years later.

Sorry for double posting. Further irony to above comments. My ENT doctor. over 8 years at St Michaels Hospital/Toronto didn't think I would "improve" with a Cochlear Implant. At that time was deaf only in Right ear since 1992 with left being 85-90% loss. When I became deaf-Dec 20/06 my regular Dr was on holidays and was seen by the head of the department. Reviewing my file and current audiogram- no problem in referring to Sunnybrook Cochlear Implant section- immediately. Actually was seen there within 2 weeks. This was quick-I understand. Seems the surgeon there was a personal friend!
Recently discovered that the policy of Implanting persons was altered to being deaf in one ear only providing the other ear was "profound loss" level.Still total deaf persons go to the "head of line". They have to pick who gets the Implants when. Here in Ontario-if approved- OHIP pays the entire cost -which was $55,000 CDN when I was processed in 2007.
Different countries seem to have different protocols.
