Funny, the reason I'm deaf is because of getting two defective copies of the gene for LQT5, one from each parent. Apparently one defective copy is not enough for the deafness part. Turns out there's someone in my mother's side of the family in Ireland in the 1800s with my father's Irish last name. Apparently, I could be a case of trans-Atlantic, trans-century incest. :lol: Only 1.6 to 6 out of a million people deaf for the same reason I am. If that is applicable to the whole world population, that's only 11 to 40 thousand people.

The version of LQTS I have isn't the most common one. Interestingly, it may have been the first one discovered. It was in the 1800s when a deaf girl died after a teacher yelled at her. Her brother also died in a fight at the school. I wonder where that story came from so I could find more about it.

Sure, People in here can be true to their opinion but it doesn't mean that others have to dismantle or break it down.

Sorry. What I am really trying to say is, people here have their opinion on being deaf, vs. another set of people, and we are speaking as if they are wrong and we are right.

I just want to make sure that these opinions here are right, because it matters if you are going to go out and challenge someone who is prejudice with this stuff.
