How do you sign "Mafia," "hit man," and "godfather?"

for godfather - we signed "god" "father"

as for rest.... I can't remember. I recall my friend signing Mafia last year...

Mafia, "M" handshape sideways under the nose.

I use "m" signs like cut on my neck. I just sign "m" on my neck repeatly.

Yes, just thrust the "M" forward and back sideways a couple times as if you're stroking the mustache.

lol that's kinda funny. I prefer frisky's sign :)

That is SO SEE sign when it comes with "M". *barf*

I use "H" on both hands as you sign for "COWBOY". For cowboy in ASL you sign it with "L" as guns. I sign it with "H" as pistol.

One time, I saw an interpreter who spelled "mafia" or "mob", then spray tommy gun.

Um... meh. Too Cowboy-ish.

I'm guessing that's an iconic reference to the era's Italians wearing mustaches. Probably not politically correct but that's the nature of sign language.

Someone showed me a sign used for Mafia in another state that is a modification of the sign for ITALY; also not politically correct but that's life.

Have you been interpreting for mafia 101 course?

As for La Cosa Nostra, I assume, I'd spell it, then make it up like family and tommy gun??? lol

Why wouldn't whatever sign is used for "Mafia" also be used for this? Especially in informal conversations?
It would probably be OK for a generic conversation. If specifics are necessary, I would spell the names.

I was just curious if they did have separate sign names for the two organizations.

It's amazing the range of topics I have to cover.
