Jeebus.

Why on earth would someone want to steal someone else's forum account?
That's just an all time low I've ever seen on the internet. No money involved, purely for stealing a person's identity..

Oy... what we need to have our AD accounts hacked like dirty catnip eh?

Thanks Alex for the heads up.

:fu: scammers!

Maybe it's one of the other deaf forums. Or Nigerian scammers :mad2: only possible reasons I can think of.

Free money? You have to be brain dead to fall for that.

Also, send an e-mail to everyone on the membership list, warning them NOT to open the email.

Thank you for the heads up Alex.

I haven't gotten any of those thing but thanks for your warning Alex.

Wow, that is pretty low... I do see couple of spelling mistakes on that email.

I haven't received any email like that.

Mod note:

This thread is sticky for the time being.

I know right? This is the first time I've seen a forum hijack attempt.
Paypal accounts, ebay accounts, amazon accounts, fake bank emails, shipped item/tracking numbers, World of Warcraft accounts, and now forums. Whoever is doing it has crazy motivation. :hmm:

Plus, Naisho - these people who takes the attempt to steal identity thinks we are dumb enough to obey such instructions, I think not. They are guilible and dumb enough to know that we are smart people and we also can outsmart them.

Yeah, I do get those paypal accounts, ebay accounts, fake bank emails, prize winning emails etc... and some of those I have never joined on those accounts.

The forum one is the first time I ever seen a hijack attempt.

Alex, i think because of this forum is in public that anyone can see and take lots of advantage from those who don't know anything about it. If this forum become more limited for public to view it and would more likely less getting scam emails?

:dunno:

Yep, my Yahoo caught phished email message, it's automatically delete.

Phishing web or email links are not secured links, it's looks like not real company, it's someone attempting to steal the information as CC, Bank, xbox account and fund accounts by the weird URL addy, if you use the email program as MS Mail, Telecom and etc, that would not getting detecting a phishings.. I recommend use webmail, they have provide to protect the customers whenever the webmail server can be detecting a phishing messages. it's now better techology on webmail servers.. no more email programs.. same as virus-detecting system in the webmails..
