Do frosted or clear ear molds last longer then color?

My friend has gone 7 years with a silicone mold, which I would love to do its also dead clear still, no yellow or anything. Not sure how she does it?! Maybe her keeping her hair down all the time help?!

I also wonder why my colored ear molds have changed color this time? Had colored molds before and they haven't. I'm wondering if its down the what color you go for? Mine are blue now.

Hahaha... yeah.

It's the tube that I have replaced every year or so. The ear mold did get a bit yellowish as it got older... but I always did my best to clean it whenever I could.

Yes, it got harder but it was never really a problem for me as I could still hear everything well and never really had feedback problems.

I also use Dri-Aid for my hearing aid.

Changing your tubes every year is good. I have to change mine every month or the sound quality goes down :(

My audiologist is completely incompetent and mixed up my request for clear earmolds with a 6 year old's request for pink and blue swirled sparkly earmolds. Of course, they didn't end up swirled, they ended up like this:

I had no idea that the clear lasted longer. Now I'm extra grumpy about it!

I'm not actually sure if clear do last longer but from my experience and from other people responses, they do last longer BUT those ear molds look amazing!!!

You should get her to do them for free if you don't want color.

I already asked, and she won't because they still fit. :/ Oh well. They're a conversation starter. Lets women see my sensitive side. :P

I had several styles and materails expect the teenaged colors stuff . LOL !
I noticed for me that hard shell sounds clearer but it whistles after it ages. The really soft stuff just gunks up more even with regular cleaning and leaves a itch. I had half shell, full shell even two materails in one for severe profound loss and I found that semi soft material is the only solution for me. However due to semi soft materail they tend to have internal aggravating "points" from my ears after it hardens from age so I file it with a nail sandpaper file to remove the darn aggravation. It never shows up within the first 3 months.

I got a few tubes from my audiologist once so I could replace them myself instead of going in all the time, but then he stopped going that. (probably realized if I didn't visit the office, it wasn't billable.) ;)

But I can replace them myself, if I have a source for tubes that I can buy myself. Trouble is, I have no idea where to buy them. Or even how to determine what size tubes to order.

I have ordered tubes from ebay before . how to tell which ? it depends on your severeness of hearing loss
Thin Wall - 0.116" or 2.9 mm O.D., for use on BTE hearing aids for mild-to-moderate hearing loss.
Medium Wall - 0.122" or 3.2 mm O.D., for use on BTE hearing aids for mild-to-moderate hearing loss
Heavy Wall - 0.130" or 3.3 mm O.D., for use on BTE hearing aids for moderate-to severe hearing loss
Double Wall - 0.142" or 3.6 mm O.D., for use on BTE hearing aids for moderate-to severe hearing loss
ohhh pretty !! I can see how eembarassing it can be if you are an adult .. LOL !

Im personally going to go for frosted next time, hopefully next week if my ear infections clear. Only need one for my left as my right is still as tight as anything, who cares I dont match, lol!

You're awesome, Botts! Thanks for that link!

What does Single Wall, Double Wall, and Heavy Wall mean?

The heavier the gauge, the less flimsy feeling the tube. And the heaviest walls are for more profound losses.
