Do Female Dogs Get Along?

so im thinking about adopting this puppy. i posted the pictures below. just as a little backround story, her mom was a stray, she was pregnant and she had the puppies in the shelter, this is one of the puppies. she's so beautiful and looks really sweet. the only only potential problem is the puppy is a girl. and i already have a female dog at home. a friend told me that two female dogs wont get along. ive never had 2 dogs at the same time so i dont know. i would think that 2 female dogs would get along, but i dont know and i want to be sure everything will be ok. do u guys know if 2 female dogs will get along? do any of u have 2 female dogs, if so how do they get along?

I dont know if that is really true. Maybe can you research on it or ask around?

I've experienced females w/other females.. adapt for few wks.. will become attached LOVING CARE together tends sleep and playful as mates.

Isn't hurt... Your older dog will adapt your newest puppy take while few wks and will become attach'em loving each together...

Trust me!

The picture of the puppy IS well worth the chance to consider whether the two of them will get along--surely a decision you'll not regret either. This puppy is really adorable and very cute. Kudos to you and hope you will take her and umm...got a name yet for the puppy?

Puppy looks like a mix...part lab, hmm..beagle or terrier? Any idea what she is?

Anyhow, good luck and if you do decide to take her in, I wish you, puppy and your other dog all the very best...now you'll say: "ladies rulez the house!" :laugh2:
 
awwww cute puppies... You has a good heart to adopt puppies from shelter.

I would recommend you to have same sex pets...

They would end to have puppies if you adopt different sex pets.

I have 2 same sex cats. One of my 2 cats had 4 kittens (2 female and 2 males). I will keep 2 of 4 kittens but it must have same sex...

yeah RR she is a Dachshund mix. they have named her Hershey, but im thinking of naming her Nalani. its a Hawaiian name meaning The Calm of the Skies. im fixin to call and see if she is still available. i hope i get her, she is so beautiful. she has 6 brothers and sister. 3 of them have already been adopted and there are 3 left. so if she's not there then im gonna try and get one of her siblings, who are equally adorable. ill keep u guys posted. if she is still there, i hope they are able to hold her for me.


and the dog i have right now, i adopted her too. well sort of. her previous owner was giving her away because she wasn't getting along with the owners cat. so we took her. her name is summer. she's a shih tzu and poodle mix. she's black.

When you first introduce them take them to a neutral location where your other dog does not feel the new dog is invading on her turf. Do expect some tussling at first to establish dominance but things should be fine. I've placed lots of dogs in homes where they already had a dog. Good luck on your excellent choice.
 
I would assume that spaying and neutering your pets helps reduce problems between pets.

My parents had 2 male dogs that weren't neutered. They both fought for domination of the property. Both would fight each other and piss/cum all over the house.

I had a friend who had 2 female cats. Both weren't spayed. So, both fought a lot and were constantly in head. They pissed all over the house. Whenever a male cat walked by the window, the 2 cats would fight at the window.
 
Aww AJ, these puppies are soo cute, well let me solved your problem there just give me one, and you can keep the other one :mrgreen:

It depends on the age gap between the new puppy and your dog. if your dog is "old", Summer is not going to like it for a while. it may take about a week to make adjustment to have a newcomer in your home.

Your puppy is sooo cute! love the eyes! Good Luck on getting the puppy and hope they still have it for you.
 
i called and i found out i have to fill out an application. they are going to email it to me, im waiting for it. apparently there have been a few people looking into adopting that dog. god i hope i get her.

lol IF i get her. i still haven't received the application to fill out for her yet.
