Why do I don't know poetry? Why do I dislike poetry? I have had classes, but I still dislike poetry. I wish I knew some poetry. Do you just have natural talent for it or did you learn to do so?

I like to read some poetry but dislike writing it...just like some poeple love to paint while others dislike it. It is probably the same for u with poetry?

Good one here. I felt the same way. But the older and wiser you get, you will understand. I do not know why. Don't ask me. I hate potery all my life, but somehow I got into it, I just loved it. You have to understand the words and its meaning. And got to picture it. It may get so complicated, but *shrugs* it is a potery. Nowadays we get no rule in potery so we can write anything we want to express our feeling, or a thing, or whatever...Talent, mmmm, I never had talent, it just came in my soul and I just write it down. The more I write potery, I started to like it alot.

One thing you can try to do is read a different poem every day, there are some websites out there that show a new poem every day. Here is one of them http://www.poetrydaily.org/today.php

Some people don't like poetry because it has so many rules, other people don't like it because it has no rules. it all depends on what type of poetry you read, so you should look at many different types to see if you like any one specific kind of poetry.

I will check it out since I like poetry. To me you don't need a rule becuse of the way it is nowadays. :) Many ppl I know ignore their rule and write so many poems. So I was told... ;) Everyone said we can do whatever we want as long we write it... Do you like poems and write any of your own? :fingersx: If you do, do u use the rule or you just ignore it...

Really it all depends on what kind of poem you want to write-- like if you want to write a haiku (very old Japanese way) then you have to write exactly three lines, that have 5 syllables, then 7 syllables, then 5 syllables. Like this:

Come over with me
and together let's play
Oh, motherless sparrow. (translation from a haiku by Japanese poet Issa).

If you want to make an acrostic poem, then you have to follow one rule, a letter from each line must spell something.

Light comes into
Our life when we open our hearts
Very much to all who open theirs.
Every one needs to do this.

(I just wrote it now for example. See L O V E at beginning of every line. It can be a letter at the end of every line. Or a letter inside each line.)

Anyway, some people like the challenge of writing specific kinds of poems. I remember one classmate liked working on sonnets (like Shakespeare) and it's really hard because there are many rules you have to follow to make that short 16 line poem.

I know about the rules. Alot of people I know don't follow the rules. I will try one with a rule. It is not gonna be easy. It will take a while to figure out to make it perfect.

This is very interesting!

In young teen, I was used to say never LIKE the poetry. Don't ask me why. Later I read lyric/ poetry from any music attached inside DVD or Casette. They really fascnate me. Some poetry hit my heart with inspiratual. I really wanted to write my own poetry. But I didn't know how to write poetry, because I don't know what the rule for poetry.

Until My fiancee taught me once. I am growing to knowledge how to write poetry. Thank to my beautiful fiancee..

I agree with post says, ignore rule about poetry. I did

You know what? You can write poetry on your own. Really easy!

You have to pick the term: "dislike", or "poetry" that how to créate your own express who you are/ what your emotion come from.

For instance your own subject: "who dislike poetry"
As basic explain poetry:

I dislike poetry.
Poetry is nothing special.
Poetry dislike I dislike.
I dislike me,
Beacuse Poetry dislike me.

I dislike poetry.
Poetry is nothing special.
Poetry dislike I dislike.
I dislike me,
Beacuse Poetry dislike me.

Poetry dislike deaf.
On and on,

Isn't that easy to write your own express beyond the words. :)

My own express poetry's explain subject: "blackberry"

I love to eat blackberry.
Berry is black. because Berry eats me, I am black.
Berry is the most beautiful black thing.
Blackberry is best fruit I ate.
Berry isn't bubble, But berry is the beautiful curve.
Berry isn't popcorn.
Berry is black fruit.

"BB"

BB is blackberry.
BB is big boob.
BB is BB gun.
BB is big bike.
BB is big boy.
BB is Big Bomb.
BB is Boo Boo.
BB is BB

Are these good poetry?

;)

Haha I like your poems. Thanks to your fiancee for helping you. Everyone does the same or differently. Yours rymes ALOT, and I like it. See the bold above...I am so much like that. I love looking up lyric sheets and image my own from it when I was a teen. You said you like lyric. I have a few :giggle: but it is personally really. Ever try potery and lyric alltogether. I have. :) A poetry into a song. Maybe I can share that someday. Always damn interesting about that...I just write just about ANYTHING...from my mind, heart and soul...

I like reading some poems but the thought of writing them really makes me nervous. However here's a haiku that I wrote in High School.

My sister Amy
talks all the time on the phone.
Daddy wants her to quit.

Ha ha, the very thought of writing sonnets is enough to make me bolt for the nearest door!

I dont like to write poetry but read?? Depend on what subject. Mostly I do not like to read.

I love poetry! My favorite poem is by ee cummings

i carry your heart with me

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear no fate(for you are my fate, my sweet)
i want no world(for beautiful you are in my
world, my true)and it's you are whatever a moon
has always ment and whatever a sun will sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which
grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the starts apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

It really depends on my mood. I'm never known for writing poems, but I think I can write some. I really like the free writing poem. Just throw it out from myself to the paper.

I also like haiku, but the 3-5-3 or 5-7-5 are the hardest part for me because I can't speak out loud and try to count syllables.
