It is not an "alternative method". It's insult to the deaf to say such things. There are laws concerning this, see: 28 CFR.

How is "alternative method of communication" insulting? That is exactly what an "auxillary aid" is intended to do. Provide an alternative to spoken communication.
And no where does the ADA state that a TTY has to be available on the college campus. As long as they accept relay calls, allow a student to communciate via email instead of by phone, or have VRS technology, they have fulfilled their obligations under Section 504. If you will read the ADA a little more thoroughly and completely, you will see that TTY is mentioned only as an example of an "auxillary aid", and not as a mandated service.
I am not contadicting. I am correcting your misinformation. Quite a different thing. Perhaps, if you were a bit less defensive, you could actually take the opportunity to increase your knowledge rather than concentrating on being offended.
