Direction

I was never able to locate where the sounds were coming from but I have gotten good at guessing. Like if I hear the sound of an airplane, of course it would be up in the sky so by internalizing that knowledge, I automatically look up whenever I hear a plane.

I just use my guesswork on basic sounds.

It has never really bothered me.

I have a hearing dog with me and when she doesn't alert me to a particular sound, I can pretty much find it myself. Not all the sounds are crucial to me, as my dog knows what I need help with.

On the other hand, I had sinus surgery in 1994 and my sense of smell is impeccible! I can smell a skunk coming from a mile away (not just the four-legged kind) and have had to stop wearing anything scented periodically because it plugs me up.

I wear only one hearing aid. I can sometimes tell where the sound is coming from if I turn around enough to determine where it's coming from. :)

I normally don't wear my HA's (I have 2 [its a cros system]). If I hear someone call me I will usually look to my left first (left is good ear, right is deaf), so in a way I have a hard time locating where voices are coming from; but I can also guess too.
