Dieting...

Wow Magastu, I totally understand your experiences.

I was a vegetarian for a couple of years, its only now that Ive been having some problems. I felt tired all the time and people told me I looked pale. So I've started eating some kinds of meat, but Im really fussy, I can't eat red meat at all. So Im still only getting a small amount of protein.

I went to the doctors about this and asked if I could have some Iron pills, but he wouldnt give them to me for reasons unknown :dunno: He seemed to think I was getting enough protein even though I told him I rarely eat any meat.

My dieting experiences...there's only been one that I was succussful in. It was my own diet, I made myself eat five things a day, no more (like for example, apple was one) I had no chocolate or any treats, and I ate the same thing each day. I did loads of exercise as well, I would walk at a quick speed for an hour everyday and did an hour of playing sports.

I guess I wasn't that overweight to start with, but I always felt fat compared to my friends and always wore really baggy clothes. I was about 7 stone when I stopped the diet, which is kinda underweight for my height, I had loads of blackouts too, that was what scared me most, each time I had them I worried whether I would see again. Im now 9 stone, but I want to get down to 8 and a half stone.

Katzie..im kind of confused...are you saying that thyroid disorders causes deafness?? I dont think so...my hearing loss was due to my mother contracting rubella during her pregnancy and i have parathyroid disorder but not born with it..i had it like 4 years ago.
So can you clarify that relation between deafness and thyroid disorders?
I said they're related. Thyroid disorders don't cause deafness.

I’m still on the medication for over 2 years now. I took thyroid hormones pill every morning within 30 minutes before I eat the breakfast.

I guess that I’m also hypothyroidism, too. (Thyroid insufficiency)

It depends different thyroid you take pill rest of life or not. Which thyroid your mother has?

with that description Liebling -- yes its hypothyroidism -- i have the same trouble and have been on synthroids for the last 10 or so years now ( :eek: didnt realize that)

someone here mentioned iron pills qq from what i understand women CAN take iron supplement vitamins DURING their period cycles cuz women lose their iron as they are menstruating and it wont be harsh on the liver or any other organs -- take the lowest dosage of iron vitamins during the periods and see how u feel -- i was told to take them during my period cycles by the doc but i dont :-x :Oops:
 
I'm on the Don't-buy-it Diet. See those fries? Don't get 'em. How about that pie? Skip it.

Seems to work well, except it has some adverse effects. See that salad? Blah! Or how about an apple? Eh..

Yeah, that's what I figure out that I'm hypothyroidism. I search those word for English since I use German language.

Yes, that's right. I remember some of my friends who lost alot of bleed due period.
I only take iron pill during 2 pregnancies accord doctor's order. I will lose my hair or teeth or dry skin if I doesnt listen doctor. My mother lost 2 teeth because of this due her 5th and last pregnancy.

Why cant your doctor take blood test from you to check either you have low iron or not?

Yes, I'm agree about pale skin if there're low iron/magnesium pills or effervescent tablet. I would prefer effervescent tablet. It's important to have protein in your body.

I notice pale look on my sons when they living for vegetarian for few years after learn where the meats come from. I check with doctors over that. My doctor said it's normal that most children dont like meats.
Now they eat white meats... ***phew***

Honestly, my sons are fussy meat eaters.

i have tried everything that you can think of!! weight watchers, south beach, atkins, jenny craig, herbal life, the list can go and on...

ILL GO FOR YOUR SAKE!! (to shut them up)...

it was tough at first.. i have to admit.. i am sure you guys know how it is when you FIRST start something new like a new diet, etc.. it is very hard, can be very discouraging, very challenging, etc.. so anyway.. i couldnt believe how easy it was AFTER A FEW DAYS!?!?! WOW!!! i can eat like a normally again without worrying or fretting too frigging much!!

my dr also wrote a book.. you can get it at the bookstore.. called THE ANTI-DIET --how to eat, lose and live..

this is how it works.. ill do my best to explain it and K.I.S.S!! AACCKK!! so here it goes!!
i eat every two hours! (i know it is crazy!!) but it is to keep your energy level up (you notice you guys get tired by mid morning right!??) and your metabolism up (burn calories)... like for example.. this is my schedule to make it easier to explain:

8am breakfast waffles, soy protein or cream of wheat
10am snack apple, orange, etc
12pm lunch hamburger w/o bread, etc or
2pm snack crackers (4-5 depending on the box) with hummus, or fruits
4pm snack same as above
6pm dinner carb or no carb.. depending on what you had for lunch
8pm snack fruit.. or ice cream or your favorite dessert but it must be
(10 grams of sugar or less
10 grams of total fat or less
650 mg of sodium or less)

so for breakfast.. i can eat whatever i want.. i normally either have a soy protein drink, 2 waffles or cream of wheat.. then for snack.. ill have a piece of fruit.. then for lunch.. (you are allowed to have one carb a day.. meaning.. if you have a carb for lunch.. then you cant have carb for dinner.. or the other way around.. so if i have a amy's frozen lasagne (sp?) for lunch then at dinner ill have a salad or chicken if you get my drift)


everything such as waffles, amy's lasagne, ice cream etc... must be:
10 grams of sugar or less
10 grams of total fat or less
650 mg of sodium or less

and twice a week i can have sweets!! i LOVE PISTACHIO ICE CREAM!! YUMMY!!!

in additional to this, i walk, hike, etc (not in the winter, no way jose!! LOL), and i am also a member of curves that i go almost everyday)

up to this day, i have lost the total of 25lbs since august--(1lb a week and also went down two dress sizes).. and i AM VERY PLEASED WITH MY WEIGHT.. i never thought i would be able to lose it and keep it off!!(because two summers ago.. i lost 50lbs.. but GAINED IT ALL BACK!! GRRR! so every time i lost weight in the past.. i gained it back like a SNAP!! (so it was a YOYO for many years) but now i have faith and know i can do it with this lifetime eating plan plus be active, walk, hike and go to curves.. cant wait until summer cuz i love the outdoors.. i am looking forward to being active again such as hiking, etc..

I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER than i have in a long time!!.. feel much healthier, no more pain, inflammation in my hips and knees, etc!! SHEESH!! IT SURE DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! the weight puts pressure on all of your body parts and joints, etc (sigh)

everyone has been telling me i look much more healtier than i have ever been in a long time... since i changed my eating habits..

sorry for going on and on.. so this is my story.. hope to hear many more successful stories from others!! :applause: :thumb:


i don't mean to brag.. but i need some encouragement and support ... cuz i am feeling blah... but i have lost 7 lbs since i posted the above on jan 10th.. hopefully we can keep this thread going every week for support.. i am sure there are some of you out of there who feels like i do?? :(

*HUGS* Zesty, I'm really proud of you!! You've come a long way girly!! Brag all you want because I know it means a lot to you and you're very determined to lose weight. I've been in your shoes... I've lost 67 pounds from 1997 to 2001. I've hit a plateau more than few times so I know how frustrating that is. It's when you need to change the diet a little and change of excercise.

After I was pregnant with my daughter I was already 39 pounds over and I've lost 36 pounds in 8 months then I gained 12lbs this winter and just lost 4lbs. I'm very frustrated right now and it makes me sad that I could just eat the wrong stuff. I forgot how I did it back in 1997 and keep it off.

I copied your diet plan (breakfast, snack, lunch, etc) because I skip breakfast and I'd have a large lunch and medium sized dinner. I realized that I'm doing this wrong. So, I'm going to try your method. We can do this together!! Thanks for the tips, too!!

thanks!! i dont like/try not to brag cuz i know how others feel.. cuz i remember how lousy i felt when others bragged how great they felt when they lost weight, etc.. so i am putting myself in their shoes.. ya know?? so i want to be sensitive to others cuz i have been in their shoes if you dig me?? :)

it is not that bad.. it is just that i feel so blah cuz i know have to lose so much more.. that was just making me feel blah.. i dont believe in diets either.. i like what i am doing.. and it works very well for me.. cuz i dont feel hungry or tempted a lot of the times and then when i have the three meals.. i tend to get full which is amazing cuz of the snacks in btwn which are benefical!! :thumb: so far i have lost 32lbs.. (sigh) :ugh:
