If you chose not to and went through pain in natural birth, why? Please tell us about it. Please no bashings: :ty:

For me I chose to have epdurial because I can't stand pain and I don't deal with it very well. :ugh: I needed it to numb the pain. I had vaginal birth though and it went smoothly without any complications. I plan to have epdurial with my other 2 pregnanices in the future. :D

I don't really have anything to say about it, but I have heard that they don't give epidurals to women who have tattoos in that area due to chemical imbalance.

I have no children, but if I ever did have a child, I would MOST definitely have some kind of pain med during my labor and delivery. I am a TOTAL wimp when it comes to pain of ANY type! lol

1st child , natural birth.
2nd and 3rd both using epdurial due I'm quite BITCH'Ny hell lotsa horrible.. DR forced me and to have epdurial during 2nd child. I was asked for epdurial when was 3rd child.

OKay, I have never been preganat, and I am not planning on getting pregnant. I am confused and wondering, doesn't an epidurial hurt? They have to sew you up after. Do they give you anesthesia when you have the epidural and after they sew you up?

Honestly, if they don't offer anesthesia, I will opt for natural birth. I am a wimp when it comes to cutting up with knives and stitches. I don't care how "natural" can hurt.

I am opposite, but when people talk about epidurials, i just go, "ouch!" They don't say if you have anesthesia before and after when they sew you back up. :ugh:

Epidural is an injection. They roll you over to your side, then carefully give you an injection on the lower part of your back... just above your butt, then lay you back down again. It will make everything from the waist and below numb and feelingless. If you ever have to give birth naturally, it will be as painless as possible. It is possible for cuts to be done when giving birth naturally.

I heard that Epidural can cause memory loss when gettin' older. Is that true ?

I used to have Epidural when I was pregnant with my first child. It was mucha better than goin' thru the pain. :)

I haven't heard anything on that.

I just did some research. So far, I haven't found anything on it causing serious memory loss. The only thing I can find is that epidurals do sometimes affect your nervous system. Some women have complained of temporary "black outs" or "memory loss" that they don't exactly realize what's going on until hours after giving birth. Of course, this is to be expected when receiving medicine like that. It's like going to the dentist. We get novocaine. Hours after you're done, you get a headache or pain. Epidurals go into your spinal nerve so I wouldn't be surprised if it caused a temporary effect on the brain.

Vamp...

Ahh, I see. Wow... very interestin' ! *Chucklin'* I will explore into this later. Thanks for the info. :)

I had epdurial with my 2 out of 5 pregnancies..

As long its not affect the baby! :D

I never had it when I gave my daughter a birth except for locate pain shot.. like my arm.

Also my doctor told me that epidural analgesia can cause death or permanent
paralysis. And It can cause a nerve pinch.

Epidural is a longest neddle that stick right into your spinal cord and makes you numb from bottom of your breasts to below near your feets....

Actually, I don't know about rolling over, I had an epidural during both labors...The nurse told me to bow down while I'm sitting on the bed, and you can not move an inch if you do , then you will become paralysis, you have to be real still when they put the epidural in your spinal cord, then you become numb in a few minutes or so and wouldn't feel any pains at all.....but it goes away in a couple of hours or so if the labor goes a bit longer , they will have to redo it again.....

I did have it during my first and second labor but the third one was too late, since labor went quickly and everything happened so fast, I thought I was going to die without the epidural and surely gave up by telling the nurse and doctor that I couldn't do it heh! but the good thing Cheri was with me and she the one who got me through! ..... :)

I've personally never heard of this before that epiduarl can cause death, but I knew that it can cause you paralysis only if you move....

Yes, You are Correct ^Angel^...

I had epdurial with my first Son boy when the guy came in with that long needle I was like "U putting that in me?" he was laughing and said yes in ur spinal cord. So, he told me not to move at all so I had to sit still for a while and it was tough because I kept getting Contractions.

with my Second Child it was all Natural and damn that was even worst labor I have ever had! You could say I was screaming.. LOL!

I see, so does an epidurial injection hurt? Doesn't it hurt at first? I think it's a horrendous thing. It's a big needle, and I am a wimp when it comes to vaccination or needles. :nono: I dunno if I'd pick that over a painful vaginal birth. :D

It hurt a bit when they stick that needle in the spinal cord but it is worth it even though I don't like needles at all and since it is better than putting up with the most horrible pains during labor cause that is alot worse than having a needle sticking right into your spinal cord!...Trust me when I say this heh!

Interesting information:

I have no idea what it likes because I never had it.

German doctors are not support it.

oh Yes it does at first U would feel a pinch and then its all over with. I would say it does make u feel alot better than having natural Birth. Labor pains are not fun at all.

All you have to do is sit still and do not move at all and once its all over you would feel like ur own self without feeling the pains of Contractions. but Natural Birth you feel the pain all the way and it is so painful that u'll be screaming ur buns off like I did LOL!

I had epidural for c-section with both 2 kids, and will have it again with third on way. Epidural didnt seem to hurt at all, I felt nothing even though I hate needles as well. First time, I thought, :ugh: ick i dont want that.. and thought it'd hurt so when i got it, I didnt feel anything and saw that the anthesologist was done.. was like, "Done already?" :-o 2nd time, felt nothing too.. so oh well, eh.
