I didn't breastfeed my babies, I wish I did because I was told that breastfed babies did not have ear infections as much as the ones who didn't and breastfeeding also cuts down on risk of breast cancer. :dunno:

There are so many articles on that topic, so who knows. I had no choice with not being able to breastfeed due to lack of milk.

Did/Do you breastfed your baby? Yes, both girls.

Did it hurt? Not at all except for a spell of inflammation on my left breast.

How long breastfed? With my first one, 15.5 months, she weaned herself. my second one, still... not as much as before. She is starting to wean herself also.

Did/do you feel comfortable to breastfed? yes, although I do like privacy in a public area

Did/do you breastfed in public? Yes, with blanket or find a discreet place.

Was you breastfed by your mom?
no She said she would if it was the thing to do back then.

Thank you, everybody.

It's very interesting to learn something about breastfeeding since Im thinking about to breastfed to my baby once she born. Let's see if I could since Im not start leaking yet or even my breasts isnt making any of changes yet. Doctor says, wait until birth baby first and see how it's going on. I hope I can breastfed since I want to.

And, you can post more to share about breastfed that I would like to hear. =)

It's a natural thing, you will know after the baby comes. I did not have any instruction or go to lactation class. Just did it naturally..... :wiggle: You will appreciate being able to do that for your baby.

You will be just fine...My boobs didn't get bigger till my son was born, then BOOM! Damnit! LOL! It is depend on each mommy to be though!

Wish you best of luck!

Oh yea! Last fall my sister came down to visit and said she has never seen me this big! I'm like, me what? Oh you mean those girls? LOL

I'm not a mother, but I'll answer a couple of questions, if you like.

My mother breastfed me for only 3 weeks then put me on formula because she had to go back to work.

Looking back, I never had the flu. Colds, certainly, like two times a year.

However I loathe drinking plain milk even to this day. I don't mind drinking flavoured milk and I find it helps suppress my craving for junk food.

Shel90, maybe the reason your son's sick has nothing to do with breastfeeding? It seems that boys gets sick more easily than girls when they're little.

LOL! My sister was esctatic when her boobs expanded during her pregnancy and breastfeeding, but mourned the size loss when she stopped feeding from breasts.

If I were a mother then yes, I would breastfeed if I'm capable.

I forgot to answer the part about sick stuff---my girls have not been sick much all their lives. Not even an ear infection! However, a couple colds a year. Each girl had something major once, and BOTH times just off a plane.

My older girl came down with gastrointestinal infection that lasted for over two weeks. the poor thing. My younger girl, barely a couple months old, came down with croup which made it difficult for her to breastfeed. When she got over the croup, she was fine breastfeeding.

Viruses like the cold environment, ya know?

Poll; for Other means if you have three kids b ut you did breastfed to two of them and not one.

I was saying, umm I used dry cloth before I took shower to rub my nipples for last few weeks of pregnacy so when the baby was born I would not have sore nipples when I first start breastfeeding. I never had sore nipples from breastfeeding. Yes I used to clean my nipples before feed baby. What a great experience.

I never heard of fennel tea, interest. U know I still have breast milk and I am still taking medicine to stop it flowing.

Fennel tea is one of my favorite herbal teas. I also fed my both babies with fennel tea as well to calm their stomach ache down. It's not just calm stomach ache but help them to sleep well.

You still have mother milk and take a medicine to stop it... intereseting... :eek3:

I would offer you my advice to try Sage tea. It helps to rid of mother milk.

I decided to quit it after long 9 months breastfed so my doctor advised me to take sage tea. I did... few days later after that, mother milk gone... no more breast milk...

Thank you, I drink sage tea but it does not make any difference, you see I have what it is called proclatinoma. My pituitary is malfunction for some reason and it works hard and it produces milk and no menses. I need to take medicine to keep menses and stop milk flowing.

I am going to look up on fennel tea, soo interest cuz I do not see it sell at health store. gotta to go to work now. have a good day.

Lots of herbal teas (and herbs in general) are not approved by FDA or has even been considered for approval...so I just wanted to let everyone know that. You might want to check with your doctor before using herbs or special tea while breastfeeding. ;)

That's really nice of the doctor to let you do that :).

Okay, Jazzy...

Yes, I noticed that there´re not many herbal teas around supermarkets when I was in USA last year.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!! :eek3:

*scratch my head* pespi, coke, soda, etc are okay to FDA, not herbs... ... Excuse me... I am really total :jaw:...

Herbal teas are very health teas. It´s very common everywhere here in Germany. Adults and children drink herbal teas. My both boys drink any herbal tea since they were babies.

Herbal teas are everywhere in stores, supermarkets, hospitails etc... Health Department (FDA) are for herbal teas and water for patients...

herbals teas was introduce at long, long, long time ago..... They are well-known in the world that they are healther.

I was unable to directly breastfeed my daughter because she was in the NICU (the intensive care hospital for babies) on a heart-lung bypass. She was in the hospital for 6 weeks and they fed her my milk in a bottle. I had to pump breastmilk 8 times a day for 14 months, but it was worth it. Some babies are allergic to formula, it isn't natural, it isn't as healthy, formula babies are more likely to be overweight as adults, they have higher cholesteral than breastmilk babies, higher rates of cancer, overall it is much better to breastfeed. It is worth the work, just make a commitment and stick to it...it is for your baby.
