Did anyone had hearing when young and lost it around 40?

Hi Steve
I'm 42 HOH with progressive loss...about 60% loss. Began losing I think around college...not really sure as diagnosis was just recent. I can cope in a hearing world, but am beginning to wonder why I should. The toughest part of it is not being readily accepted by the DEAF community. I live in DC and it seems if you can hear or speak at all here, well I'm sure you know... Just makes me try harder. Anyhow keep us posted on how things are going. Maybe we can trade tips.
