device to hear and pinpoint the source

What they called? Can't search the forum w/o knowing the name.

I need a device to hear and pinpoint the source. It's for two things.

1.
Occasionally there is an animal in the attic/vent. But there are also
roofers working next door. I want to pinpoint where the sound is.

2.
My computer is noisy. There are two fans and I would like to pinpoint
which fan is noisy.

Anything with headset is out (since I wear hearing aids). The closest to what I want is

Micro Spy Ear - Personal listening amplifier

Which is currently out-of-stock. I know Amazon didn't have any "listening device" suitable
for me. I'll look around, but. Again, thank for the tip.
