Death of a friend.

Thanks SmileyGin, I appreciate it!

Welcome! to make you feel better just think she is in a better place. She was suffering for a while but now she is free from pains and is watching over us. We will see her again when its our time to go. Ok. :\

Yeah, I agree!

She was only 40, I think.

Yes, I am still going for my CI surgery on Wednesday. I know I am so going to be all over my surgeon's ass about this....I am gonna tell him to be so fucking careful not to fucking overdose...I'm more nervous because of this! But I am not going to let this stop what I want to do, and besides, I want to get this over with so I won't be so nervous about it for long.

Thanks, though.

When I read the post I had the same sentiment "if I decide to get a CI... what if?" I also went over the thoughts of railing out a doctor to becareful beforehand (I'm deaf solely because of a screw up at the hospitil so I have abit of paranoia with doctors and modern medicine. I refuse to even take asprins.. ). I was thinking if I was too rude maybe they'd purposefully do a sloppy job so I'm just going to be nice and try to show them that I'm a decent person that they don't want to 'accidently' kill :| Good luck with your CI op'.

Granted I don't know the person and all's I really just can say - I hope she's in peace. =/

I can understand this. I do not plan on being rude to my surgeon or anything like that. What I meant is that I will strongly express my concerns about this to my surgeon and doctors and nurses, and tell them to PLEASE be EXTRA CAREFUL with me.

And thanks!

Does she have a daughter name Tawny or dawn?? something like that..

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend smileygin and lucid.. that has to be hard!

No, I think her daughter's name is Cassie, also deaf.

Thank you, RebelGirl.

Yeah, it's scary. My boyfriend is very nervous about me having CI surgery because of what happened to Cheryl...I don't blame him at all. I am more nervous myself.

Yeah I went under the knife twice before for gall stone and tubal ligation surgeries.
I kept saying what if? they kept reassuring me it will be ok. so i went under as i had a bit high blood pressure and they gave me mild relaxing medicine (cant remmy name of it) both times. I came out ok. jeez still HATE hospital, no matter what. grrr.

When i had TJ.. I was worried as I didnt want to get C-section. I dreaded having one as i know it will take long time to heal compare to the private area down as it will heal faster? But TJ came out with no problem, thank goodness. :)

Cheryl was weak and sick already as she have bone disease and other problems. It was her time to go. Lucia, you are healthy. The doctor have alot of experiences with Ci surgery as he told you he have over 300 surgeries to date. So think positive and you will be ok. :)

sorry for being off topic .. :(

Yeah, you are right. I should be fine, considering that I already have had 2 MAJOR surgeries and 1 minor surgery to fix a birth defect (otherwise I would be in a wheelchair) and the minor surgery was to fix my right ear ear after some dog bit my ear off when I was 4 or 5. But still..of course...naturally I am nervous! Plus it's been SO many years since I had my last surgery. But yes, for the most part, I am pretty healthy. I don't have serious physical health problems at all so I should be fine. But I will still tell my surgeon to be VERY careful and I will tell him about what happened to Cheryl so he will be more careful.

I feel so sad for Cheryl and her family. I thought she was a very nice lady and I liked chatting with her at the deaf club party and at deaf bowling. I will miss her dearly.

does doctor give her bit too much pills till it got killed?

No, they gave her too much anesthesia in her IV...they gave her 1 dose...she didn't fall asleep like she was supposed...2nd dose...still awake...3rd...still awake...4th..then she had heart plm cause of that...too much damage to her heart already, coma, etc. That's what one of the deafies at bowling told me exactly.

ohhhh from anesthesia .. sorry about that .. :( wish should not give too much

I am hearing, but I understand......just believe

I had 3 of my best friends taken from me(what it felt like ) within a year. All of them were in car crashes. 2 crashed and i pray to god they did not feel a thing when the truck caught on fire. The other was to be my maid of honor when I get married one day which ended on a curvy road on a rainy day. It was hard too understand to me just being told; I could not imagine what you are going through. I am an ASL student trying to become a translater one day, but not just that----I want to understand deaf culture and your feelings and teach hearing people to respect and admire the courage that the deaf community faces everyday. If you need any support I maynot be much, but I am here to listen.

Thank you, Austyn. I am sorry to hear that about your friends. I've already lost 3 other people close to me this year so far, my foster father and my little brother drowned in a snowmobile accident on Christmas, and my great-grandmother passed away from pneumonia a few days after Christmas. Cheryl is the 4th person. *sighs* So I know how that is.

I am really sorry your friend died. At least she isn't suffering anymore.

That is so tragic. :( I feel so bad. I've been in an OR before when unforseen problems have occurred and it's so devestating to everybody. My condolences to everybody who knows Cheryl personally.

Im like :eek3: becuz she is my age! Im like what is like to die now? May your friend rest in peace now after her suffering with various illnesses.

I´m very sorry to hear about the death of your mother. She is too young to die. :( I remember from the pictures, you posted somewhere that your mom is very young. It´s sad... It remind me of my sister. I feel bad for my teenage niece and nephews who lost their mother to drugs 4 months ago. I still miss my sister. :( I can image how you feel when you lost your mother...

I´m also very sorry to hear that you lose your 3 closed ones... :(
