I don't enjoy or loathe myself being deaf. Otherwise, I do enjoy to meet specs individual as I realize how amazing the amount deaf out there.

i used to wanna be a hearing person but then i figured out and realized that i rather to be deaf period cuz if i become hearing, i wud freak out and overwhelemed and wud be so scare by those noises that i am not familiar with so i rather to be deaf and very happy to be deaf and even my son is hearing, i still accpect it, i dont wanna change myself to be hearing, no way...i only want hearing aids for my son's sake so i can hear his cry and important sounds from him

Why are you try to make your message nearly hide? Damn, it's hurt my eyes.

I voted strongly disagree
Because I don't believe that deafness define any part of who you are its only physical part of you, only who you truly are in the inside define who you are. Like I am Amy, that's who I am.
It doesn't mean I don't accept my deafness or against deaf community or anything like that.
its just not something to be accepted its just something to live with its like saying I don't accept my feet size really I don't care about it I just live with it.
And there is people that's fine with it and don't care about their deafness, wear hearing aids and/or CI it doesn't mean anything toward their deafness. Its just devices, its like what kind shoes you wear some prefer to wear sandals some prefer to wear high heel shoes, some prefer to go barefoot. its not physical part or an definition of who you are or how you feel about yourself.

Good point, I like how you think. :)

Cheri, I agree with what you said a while back; deafness is not your handicapping condition; your handicapping condition is shopping, shopping, shopping until you drop!

:laugh2::laugh2: that's right Tousi.

ohh sorry! >.< is this better? :giggle:

Now, that's hurt. waaah waaah.

Anyway, if I have deaf child. I would be happy because I can talk to my own child. If it's hear, it's 50/50, they won't talk to me. sniff sniff.

I have two hearing children. Trust me they will communicate with you no matter what. (they just won't stop)

I didn't realize my thread is bumped by some ADers, heh.

Hmm... Interesting post through you are entitled on your opinion. Sure, we have a different opinion, of course. :) But, as for bold font, it's about the self as a person's POV on his or her own deafness, so if the deaf person accepts his/her deafness and then WHY do s/he hates deaf people and/or deaf community; why do s/he claims s/he accepts her deafness, yet s/he hates it for life? To me, it is not make any sense. With your logic, then we should forget our deafness if we are not like to live with it. I stand on what my thought is, as my personal POV on an opinion. ;)

*'speaks' generally*

Anyway... Hmm, its pretty interesting to see two different sides on this thread.

Oh yes, a few posts remind me of something...

I remembered someone I personally know who is very deaf and hate himself for being deaf. He did say something so nasty and so much low self esteem toward deaf community, D/deaf people, and espeically himself. I still think that's pretty shame. =/

Oh well.
