We have a member that does this work, but I haven't seen her logged on for awhile.

I did this as a volunteer. It's so...

My high school classmate does that. I don't know if she is still working or not.

Billing dept? I don't know of any hospital that uses volunteers in their billing dept.:dunno2: HIPPA pretty much forbids volunteers from having access to patient medical records.

But you are right...it is boring data entry. But innaccuracies could be the difference between a claim being paid and not paid.

I am Billing Specialist, looking for advance cerficiation for that kind of job. I work under the healthcare and therapists.

It wasn't billing dept. It's a medical record dept. I mostly filed ER papers. I was so bored that while filing, I quickly skimmed thru some reports. Found out that a high school girl - same grade as me from a couple towns away OD'ed on cocaine

That's exactly why volunteers who don't abide by the HIPAA rules shouldn't be allowed near patient records.

reason record is very prove otherwise confidential on record!

Legal is very deaf!

My best friend who is deaf used to work in medical coding in the mid 90s.
