Hello. I am a highschool student working to create a new piece of technology that would allow deaf people to "hear" several distinct sounds. It would be wearable technology that would have potentially a light that can change color and/or a vibration maker. The light would change colors based on sound stimuli around them. An example would be if you name was said behind you, the light would turn green as opposed to if there a siren that was behind you, the light would turn red. I also was thinking about including the vibration maker if the clothing item wasn't able to be seen at all times. Some clothing ideas that we have had so far were a hat or glasses. Some ideas that would work with the glasses would be a light at the top right corners of glasses and possible a vibration maker somewhere else. I am writing this to get ideas and different possibilities to make this a very useful technology. Would it be beneficial to just have a light or vibration? Is there a preference about where on the body this work work most efficiently? Any and all suggestions and advice is welcome! Thanks.

This is an interesting idea and I think if done right it could help many.

I'm so glad you think this would work! Do you know where would be the most beneficial place to place this piece of tech? (i.e. in a hat and glasses, hidden from view in a shirt) Would people or you find the vibration of the light turning on, distracting or annoying? Thanks.

I can't think of one good place. It depends on the day, places I am going, weather, and what I am wearing. Maybe a bracelet like thing would work. I would want the option to switch between the light and vibration or both at once
