Deaf Students That Go to Ivy League Schools

Sweetgal, BU is Boston University

Hm, ivy league universities.. I would only say Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Stanford and ... that is it I think, are my examples for ivy league universities..
but i saw somebody mentioning Columbia University..
I am not sure if it is an ivy league... do you mean Columbia LAW University??
Because if Columbia Univ. is an ivy league univ. after all, Yes I do know somebody that is deaf and will go to Columbia University as he completes his BA degree... :-D

Brown University
Columbia University
Cornell University
Dartmouth College
Harvard University
University of Pennsylvania
Princeton University
Yale University

Ivy League Universities: a tossed-up word that identifies 8 universities (listed above) that have joined in an union back in '40s for the purpose "to foster intercollegiate football competition"....

I think that orginial concept is overrated today since I am sure there are more universites that fit the description of an ivy league- ie CAL POLY et cetera...

[EDITED TO ADD MORE REMARKS]
I know deafies that are attending or have attended: Fullerton University, George Washington University, Cal Poly University, Cal (Bekerly), UCSD, UCLA, USC, .... hmm [thinking hard] AND SDSU OF COURSE! (laughing) i know SDSU is not an ivy league university. :wiggle:

Ivy League schools are Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, and Yale.

why is only eight schools? dont they have another two schools?

I knew two schools are invited to ivy league but turned down.

which most deaf students head to? any deaf students can go one of those ivy league schools.

I was not surprised that what if deaf students have problem with getting higher score and native english or second language then got into those schools from deaf school but ofc, for mainstream school because hearing teachers gave them lots time and disciplined them make sure they will get good grade. Ever higher students has commute from home to school, every day they had serious to study in bedroom or living room, not time to play with friends at dorm or elsewhere. More than study, reading and creative writing and blog, and newspaper and watching television and intern and learning service and more. most students take ACT or SAT during junior year then check out those colleges and talk with parents and schools. but some students take it then prepare during senior but it is not good idea because I did, only I sent ten application then I got six accepted at last because they noticed me deaf and from deaf schools with honorable mention. then they interviewed for a while then keep waiting for me almost four months then accepted me through email before sent large package.

You guess how old they knew where they will go?

In fact, they are about six years old or one grade when they research or visit about college same as I did. They must earn good grade through grade school. Did you notice kids wore sweatshirt that they know they want go to? Later, they must have serious study and get ready for college during middle school. The steps of process how they will go through high school. that how students are ready to apply where they knew they will get into.

what colleges accepted you?

what colleges accepted you?

I applied to CSU Northridge, Gallaudet, Duke (my role model who play run against me), Georgetown (my good friend there), Cornell, Brown, that's all.

I never mind to apply to Stanford...because stanford will accepted students from out of state like my good friend, she is from little silver, new jersey, red bank high school in 2003 than in state which will hard to get in. And uc berkeley is really hard to get in and near my home, once as accepted csd students lot in before 1990s when VR allow to support students go to Gallaudet and RIT.

jiro,

did you know that too waste money to sent applications like 10 to 20 to different colleges? how can i choose make less than ten? I keep thinking which college will fit for me and my criteria, it is not easy.

online application is free. I used common application. free too. your VR is paying for your Gallaudet or RIT because they do not have confidence in you that you can graduate from non-deaf schools.

What colleges accepted you?

AA: Hmm , I see
Matajan: Why didn't you go to Harvard.....are you not smart?
AA: Why don't you go F...

Shep: We appear to be having some technical difficulties but to bring you up to date a thread was found buried today after 61/2 years and was brought back to life. Coming up......obama plans to spend your great grand children's money today......stay tuned.

TXGolfer - might I inquire as to your title? Permit me to purchase an alcoholic beverage for your consumption.

hrmm...to Alex's question:

I know one freshman at UC Berkeley, my deaf boyfriend at Caltech (he's the only deaf student at Caltech in 28 years), me and my other deaf friend at MIT undergraduate + 3 others as MIT graduate students, and one undergraduate student at Harvard. I don't know for other ivy leagues, but I"m sure there must be at least one.

I saw a link about that guy who went to MIT and started Hands....interesting....I didn't know about him...I'm sure MIT's disabilities services have gotten much better in the last 20 years since the article....but there are too few of us at MIT or Harvard...which is why two of my Harvard, two of my MIT friends and I are planning to collaborate and enter Harvard's pitch contest about non-profit services or technology that can help to make the world better. We are thinking about programming and creating a social-networking website that connects middle and high school deaf students to college students in any college of their choice...sort of like mentors to encourage younger students to pursue higher education and networking with others into professional industries (I had personally sort of a hard time finding other deaf and disabled professionals to talk to in the industries I'm interested in, such as consulting, finance, business, science tech, etc--not one of those dead and hard of hearing interpreters/education sort of thing)--starting with MIT and Harvard as the first colleges. (could be expanded to later colleges if we can find more students from those colleges)
