Cheri, it is an approximately 4 inch square by about half inch thick, usually black plastic thingy and it also has blinking lights. You go in and make a reservation and the hostess will give you one of these things and when it is your turn to be called, it will vibrate. All of the ones I've handled vibrate powerfully.......

they have those at the cheesecake factory too.. :P Not all applebee's have them.. mostly Timberlodge Steak house or outback, from what I've seen.. those are cool though, sometimes they catch me off guard but even then thats funny. :P
