The story of Central Macon linebacker Javarus Faulk is unique in more ways than one. The 6-foot, 220-pound senior linebacker benches 375 pounds, runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds, and is a good student.

But he stands apart from virtually everyone else in one other matter — he is deaf.

Despite that handicap, Central coach Anthony Hines is convinced Faulk will eventually land a college scholarship.

“Ole Miss [defensive coordinator] Tyrone Nix loves him. He is really trying to work with [Faulk]. I don’t know where that is going to end up. [Ole Miss] hasn’t offered, but I really think some Division II schools will real soon,” said Hines.

thats a great story!! thanks for posting. i love football. i hope he is able to go to division 1 school!

Don't forget this scholarship opportunity for football

I know alot of players have their hearts set on DI, DII, NAIA but there is another football avenue for players out of high school. It is with a college in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). They have many football colleges and offer two year scholarships. Many of these colleges have connections to 4 year colleges and players do move from NJCAA to NCAA to the pros.

Two years paid at college is two years paid.

Go to NJCAA | Home click on football and find the colleges.

Best of luck to all athletes (yes, they have scholarships at DI or DII for most sports).
