Hyundai has better reliabity records than Nissan and Ford is what he meant.

I find that hard to believe unless you show me a Hyundai and Nissan with over 200k miles on it with no major problems. I havent heard of a Hyundai with over 200k miles on it.

but if it is true that Ford buys hyundai engines, and Ford is junk, does that mean the engine is a piece of junk too?Unless he likes Ford, but my windstar is a Ford.

:D

hyundai beats nissan hands down. hyundai engines are so good that ford buys them

?????

Which Fords get them?

Ford and Nissan both made the Quest minivan. Ford and Mazda share platforms with the Escape/Tribute. Right now Ford has connections with Volvo.

Hyundai owns Kia, so they share a lot of things. Hyundai also sells rebadged Mitsubishi Monteros in other countries.

The Windstar/Freestar was Ford's own doing. That is pretty much why they are junk.. So far every Windstar/Freestar owner I've known had to replace the transmission and cylinder heads on the 3.8 V6.

Actually, Detroit in general made shit for the last 40 years. It is not until very recently that they finally said "D'oh" and started to get their shit together.

I still have a bad taste in my mouth after how Detroit treated me with their vehicles. The only way I would buy another is if it came with a long-term warranty.

Ha, my girlfriend has a Ford Windstar, 1999 model year and it's sitting in the snow with wheel stuck in the mud. It has 118k miles on it and the front axles were damaged due to some guy stole it and took it on a joyride...with a minivan? What the?

I got stuck in the mud last week with it. I parked right on top of a swamp at my dad's house . it is usually dry, but when it rain, it floods. My dad had to pull me out with his 1970's Ford pickup.

The axle is a recall... I believe she can have it fix for free.

That sucks about getting stuck in the mud. The axles are in the front that broke, needs front end work. We did check to see if it is recalled, nope it's not one of them. The recall is mainly the rear axles, I think. They won't tow it for free to inspect to be sure, tho. Selfish Ford and their POS cars.

I have a 2000 Honda Civic EX and haven't had any part failures or major problems since I bought it in 2006. I had 39k miles on it now it has 114,500 miles on it and still running strong. Not all Hondas are reliable, for your information. Too bad Honda don't make pick up trucks, only SUVs and they are not as reliable. The best SUVs would be Toyota or similar. I don't know about Hyundai. My friend's friend 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe had blown motor and it was not even 110k miles on it. I dunno how well they take care of it.

Thanks sequioas. I'll keep that in mind.

Anyway as for tonight it turns out the van is going back to the shop. It turns out they didn't fix the problem that we thought they did. that's why I'm interested in getting another car.

I have checked the 2011 Honda CR-Z. It is a good car (small, yes) but very reliable car with 35 city mpg / 39 hwy mpg, great for work transportation, and not very expensive.

Yeah I have seen that before...It looks sort of a new version of Honda CRX back in the 80's and early 90s. A Honda CRX HX from around 1988 can get 50-60 mpg without hybrid system.

Exactly when I looked at this pic, I remember Endemic did same thing with his old CRX. He posted it somewhere in this AD.

Yeah, those were the days. You could even put in a Acura Integra engine right in those little cars, even put in a Honda Prelude 2.2 liter motor....wham!
