A DEAF couple and their children were lucky to escape alive yesterday after their Norlane home was hit in the suburb's 14th recent arson attack.

The blaze, which happened in Wendover Avenue about 3.30am, follows at least six other deliberately lit house fires in Norlane over the past month and seven more in the May/June period.

Shaken neighbour Linda Lehtonen said she and her mother woke up after their dog started barking and looked out the window to see ``huge'' flames.

Ms Lehtonen said they rushed out to try and alert their neighbours. She said she was really worried about the family as the woman was pregnant while both she and her partner were deaf.

He was taken by ambulance to Geelong Hospital suffering leg injuries after the fire but had been released by yesterday afternoon.

``My mum was banging on the window and I was out in the driveway calling to Keith,'' Ms Lehtonen said.

She said she called triple-0 and dragged the garden hose out to try and douse the flames before the fire brigade arrived.

Detective Senior Constable David Reither, of Corio CIU, said police were investigating yesterday's fire to see if it was linked to the other attacks.

He estimated the fire caused $10,000 damage. Police are unsure how it started.

Thankful they are safe.. God is watching them and the neighbor is their guardian angel! :)
