Deaf Churches...where are they hiding?

That's my problem with most churches....everyone is at the mercy of that specific preacher's point of view.

One deaf church preaches that you are not allowed to have sex with your own spouse for any reason other than to procreate. Another says it is a sin to use birth control. Same religion, different rules. We even had a deaf Baptist preacher tell us that our son is Autistic because we obviously committed a sin and never asked for forgiveness. He also said that my son was going to hell because he does not know how to accept Jesus as his saviour. Give me a fucking break.

The way I see it, churches are supposed to be a gathering place for people to pray and help each other...today it seems like their goal is to get as much control over people's minds and money. There are just way too many hypocrites and dishonest preachers these days.

Out of all the preachers I've met, only one was truly down-to-earth and open minded, and I wanted to go to his church, which was unfortunately 4 states away.

The pastor's advice to the man is really bizarre.

If the meetings with the pastor were private, how did the one woman find out about the other four women? How did she know what the pastor said to the rapist?

Yes, it's creepy and strange!...These women were friends with each other...so I feel this is how it came about...I also know one of the women. She no longer attends any Church, she shuns everyone, lives with her mother.

The Preacher himself, is deaf also. Now I could "try" to get these women to inform the Police about this....then again...(as it's bothering my conscience ever since I heard about it).....I don't know if I should get involved.....And I'm also thinking there may be more women who have been raped by this man, not only deaf women....It's a very sad situation with me.

I was thinking about calling our Legal Aid lawyer for the Deaf, Mrs. Castera, and inform her of what I know.....it really depresses me.
 
The important thing that seems to be getting missed by some is the importance of fellowship with like minded people. That is part of what a church is about. It's not all about the pastor but his role is very important. Prayer and the reading of the Bible is also very important. It is a relationship between us and God. Very personal but very needed.

You might also want to talk with a rape crisis center counselor. They might be able to advise you on how to proceed. They have a lot of experience, and understand the emotions that are involved. I believe if any of the women do want to go to the police, a volunteer from the center would be willing to accompany her for support.

Of course, they should have an interpreter available for this process, if they want.

This preacher is a loser who doesn't protect his flock. Awful! :barf: I feel so angry on behalf of those women! I hope Karma comes and lands full-force on the rapist *and* the preacher for doing nothing to help those women! :mad: And that the women find the strength & support they need to go to the police and have this lowlife arrested.
 
I am very disappointed on how the "preacher" took care of this situations of those ladies. Either contact the local authorities or someone who deals with this circumstances.

NO WORD of anyone calling the Police to report this!....And to my knowledge, the Preacher was not of Catholic faith, he was a Baptist.....So that male member is....on Sunday's....sitting right there in Church....a FREE man....after raping 5 women in that Church....

It boggles my mind!...An unspeakable act!....and has deeply disturbed me also. It's what you would call a "serial rapist"...but he still walks the streets!

Rockin' Robin......your post story about your friend's church is un-fricking-believable. =( Let me tell you about my church....which I haven't gone since I started working including every Sundays. I kind of miss attending there. Less than 6 Deaf members there at my church I am no longer friends with due to long stupid story in several seperate issues to each with them. Anyway, something happened about this guy that I know and had grew up with him at deaf school until I no longer was friend with him due to his long history of hypocriteness...I recently found out from a couple of good friends who are also members at my church, this guy got kicked out TWICE from the church in five years. First one, was because he bothered an underage young woman (he was 31 at that time) for "dating" which the young woman was not feeling comfortable and needed to get away from him as well. I guess the young woman (my also friend) was pretty smart and probably havehad a strong instinct that somethign was really wrong with this guy. To some of us who knew this guy very well, he has the history of addiction in porn especailly since when he was "born again" baptizied on November 17, 2002 (of course i would not forget that was just right before I no longer friendship with him.) He kind of raped my first old childhood best friend when she was 10 and he was 14. The young woman was so upset, nervous, had someone to talk to and informed the deaf ministry coorindator complaining about this guy. So the ministry decided to have the guy to leave the church and told him don't come back to the church. So three years later - 2010, they gave him second chance to welcome him back to the church after he behaved better and forgiveness, or whatever I was not there at the time while i was living another residence far away. Here he went again in March 2012 probably several weeks after I started working full-time, he got kicked out AGAIN. The reason was the SAME!!! with different young woman member, who is also my friend. She is not an underage but 30 years old and he is 36 now) it was not only that reason he got kicked out but ALSO reason,at same around time happened in MARCH, he got caught looking at porn video on his iPhone or iPad in his car, I think right outside of church in parking lot by one of the hearing pastors. Oooh noo busted...i think he is gone for good.I am not so surprised...because he has this interest in porn since he was 12 years old. He told me when we were friends. Soooo the women are better off safe away from him for good, period. He married underage wife she was 15 and he was 19....to which they had baby together. They divorced a several years later. So he is stil DESPERATE looking to bother ladies for dates....i know it means SEX. Don't ask me how many women he had slept with WHILE he is being born again christian. YUCK
 
I am going to go back to the deaf church I was attending before. We will see if things are better this time around. If not, then I will remain with my decision to just deal with bible lessons and readings on my own and lessons from the internet for adult bible study.
