Deaf child hears for the first time

Exactly. That's discriminatory. What good is she doing the students by quitting? It would seem that maybe we aren't getting the whole story.

That happens a lot. That is why I push for information from a variety of sources.

No, there is no way to get around not hiring someone based on a "disability" which is exacts retry much what Shel said. If that was the case, this teacher should have taken it to court.

That was probably said at a time and place where it turns into a she said/she said (like the saying about he said - she said). How do you suggest getting evidence that will stand up in court?

No, nobody care. And it's sooo easy for you to say that. If she tries to report, nobody will be on her side, anyway.

You never know until you try. History books and news shows are filled with people who spoke out against injustice. Saying "ah no one will care" is just an excuse not to try.

That all depends on the extenuating circumstances. We have been given virtually no information, so I can't begin to suggest evidence or documentation without any other information.

As I mentioned in the other post, there is likely more to the story. Discussing it further would be pure speculation.

However, if deaf teachers are being denied employment in that city based on the fact that they are deaf- that is discrimination. There are no two ways around it.

People make the choice to either stand up to it, or move on. It seems that this teacher chose the latter.

So it looks like the best thing for us to do would be to put together packets containing information from a variety of resources and give them to the hospitals and Drs offices in our local areas. That way we can be assured that parents receive information that will help them fairly assess the situation. How many of you are willing to do this in your city today?

Given that this is such an important issue, I'm surprised that no one has gone so far as to even acknowledge this post.

Yup, it's easier for people to complain until someone else does something. That is the problem.

Have you experience any discrimination in past?

The discrimination is extremely emotion distress to many people and make difficult to keep up with task.

I remember that you undermined my experience with discrimination and it wasn't easy at all.

Let's see...

She would have to deal with their lies, cover ups, being famed up, and etc. She could experience a kind of situation. It's easy to take an advantage if you can't speak. Someone will be first to tell a manager before Deaf person. There are many various ways to get way with discrimination.

Also, what's about private schools or buildings? Some buildings do not want disabled people, anyway. I'm not making any bullshit excuse. It's not simple when they try to f-ck you up, emotionally and mentally.

And you think Shel make it up? I guess our pasts are meant nothing but lousy excuses.

I've experienced discrimination in the past...and all I did was bite my tongue and complain....whine...really...in many cases, I had to "lump it and swallow it"....I was too young and naive to do anything about it.

The teacher should have sued.. and why she did not ??...

In the example given this person witnessed a discriminatory policy.

.

All the more reason to report it.

Because you don't know. Your situation could be much less harsh and brutal than theirs. Secondly, you don't know her situation. Everyone is not you.

Some just can't handle a such rough, crueler and/or nasty experiences.

I think we all have suffered from discrimination at some point or another. It is certainly not easy to fight it but it is necessary. If this woman witnessed illegal activity and discrimination and quit rather than reporting it, all she did was leave others to suffer. Assuming she never reported it....that is selfish IMO.
