Deaf and Hoh need to have a CLOSED-CAPTIONED available!

I have an idea about CC need available at internet like youtube, News video, dvd movie. I am trying to look for CC available on pc DVD movie. They don't have any CC available. Why can't we have CC on News video, youtube, dvd movie and 5min??? Hearing people have no idea why deaf people don't speak during video. Hearing people are confuse and not understand and need to hear the voice. I offer for hearing people who don't know sign language and have to read the CC for deaf's story.

Why not we make a LAW for all CC must available in everywhere. It's very important! It's same with interpreter.

Do you have any idea??

I intend to agree with you.

I found it out. hulu.com have CC for tv show. I saw someone make a Vlog with CC on. I want that one. I don't know if YouTube have CC on too.

Nope I don't think so. I have try that last night. there isn't any. pity.

Join NAD. They just discussed about the issue of internet streaming and all kinds of technologies.

Become NAD member, you will be able to voice more and work with them as when they need petitions or other side of stories. Or report a website that is not closed caption.

I never owned a DVD that did not have subtitles. Where you buying your DVDs???????
I don't have any DVDs that don't have subtitles either. I was referring to renting them. :)

Yeah, totally. I agree. I think ADA is working on it. I contacted them months ago and they responded to my email. They are definitely taking it up. Well, just see what happens.

I forget to say 1 more thing. When I was planning to watch a movie DVD on my pc or macbook. It's working so great but not show up the CC on it. I tried to look for setting up or menu. It's nothing at all. I need the CC for my pc and macbook on dvd movie and recording.
CC works on PC DVD, some software DVD players such as WinDVD and PowerDVD supports the closed captioning feature as a second method in addition to subtitles.

If the DVD is closed captioned on a regular TV, it is possible to purchase a CC-compatible DVD player software package (i.e. windvd.com or cyberlink.com) that is compatible with Closed Captions.

This only works on DVD's that have closed captions that work on regular TV's. (DVD has two methods: closed captioning with black boxes, and subtitles with yellow or white transparent text)

More CC should be available online, though.

Unfortunately, have patience. While I can't speak for all forms of media (CNN, YouTube, etc.), remember back in the 80's when CC first came out, very FEW shows were captioned, and look at how much is captioned today. Give it time, closed captioning will get better. In the meantime, I get frustrated too, you are not alone.

I remember when we'd gone to Sears to get a closed captioning decoder. We'd brought it home and all of us stared at the television, expectantly, for captioning. At the time, only the news (ABC's Primetime, I think, lead the charge) was captioned. As a kid, I found it a bore!

In the 80s, most of "primetime" television was captioned (between 6 and 11pm Eastern). The re-runs became captioned, too.

Today, the media experience extends to the internet. Progress is slow and it is coming.
Ask Your Friends to Caption Their YouTube Videos

That Sears closed captioning decoder is an affectionate memory. My family, finally, knew what was going on in the world.

Youtube for hearing people and need to add CC for deaf people to watch this vlog. If deaf people do use ASL on vlog. It will be no problem.

I agree with you Bangjo. All CNN, Headline CNN and other News LIVE need to add CC. I am tired of NEWS with LIVE always get off the CC while speech. I can't understand them. But Fox news do have CC available.

Yup, that reason that I watch on Fox news so often than CNN, oh well.

captioning on the internet

I am a captioner and so would like some feedback on this. I feel that my job is to provide services to the HOH/Dd community. The FCC mandates captioning for television, but nowadays more people communicate through the web and I have seen no consistency in making websites, videos on the web, etc accessible to the HOH/Dd community. Could I get some feedback on what people would like to see captioned? It could be anything, webcasts, videos, music, webinars, etc, and I will try to work with people in the captioning field to bring your concerns to them so we can make everything accessible to everyone.

Yes. I can understand Fox News than Local News Live. The fox news have CC for LIVE. You mean CNN don't have CC for LIVE?

I would recommend captioning webcasts for video games... and video games themselves. :)
