Deaf Actor Lou Ferrigno's Official Website

That is cool! I thought Lou was hard of hearing. It appears I was mistaken and he is indeed deaf. Did anyone notice his cameo with Stan Lee in the Hulk movie? It's at the beginning, when Bruce Banner walks into his Berkeley lab and the huge security guard and regular guy walk out. Lou's one huge dude!!

that's neat, yeah i already knew he has hearing loss, but haven't see him in ages lolz

Lou

Acutally Lou is Deaf. He cannot hear spoken words, only sounds. He depends on lip reading which was something he had to do since his family did not sign. Lou still does not sign especially well to this day. He prefers to be "oral" when communicating.

Lou

Also, when Lou speaks, he has a very strong Deaf accent. In other words, he does not speak clear english.

After reading this "Healthy Hearing" website's interview with deaf actor Lou Ferrigno, there was shown a link of Lou's own homepage! :)

Lou, who has been deaf since age 5, was on TV's "The Incredible Hulk" in the 1970s - early 1980s era...Bill Bixby played his alter ego, normal human David Banner on the TV series. :)

My older son meet him two years ago. He stated that Lou is very friendly and admire of his Deaf Mom who is single. :) I wish, I had a chance to meet Lou but I had to work that night. Hope, someday we will meet Lou again.

Oh yes, I remember his movies years ago. I love it. Thank you for remind me about him. :thumb:

WOW! I never even knew Lou Ferrigno was deaf! How freakin' cool! AND he does talk very well. I wish I could lip read as good. I remember watching The Hulk as a kid...and I have seen Lou in bit parts on various shows...how freakin' cool and inspirational!

I've always known he was deaf. I found out about it when I was a little kid.

There is actually one episode of The Incredible Hulk where he plays two different characters. One character is the Hulk and the other is a bodybuilder. He was at a bodybuilding contest when the Hulk came in and interfered for some reason. It was interesting to see how they alternated between him as a bodybuilder and him as the Hulk. ;)

The title of the episode is "King of the Beach"... season 4 episode 9. :)

He also had a cameo role in both of the recent Hulk movies... as security guards. ;)
