Dangerous new drug hits Florida streets

Im not the one posting the op...
For an educated guy as you claim to be, you shoukdnt have a plm with someone wanting veriefied information...
Reported by many reputable news agencies and DEA are a more trusted source than you, therefore the burden of proof is upon you to prove it's all lies than me to prove it's true. I'm not going to spend days searching arrest records and court documents to prove this is true. You could contact the DEA and ask them for the info which court and case numbers.

The burdun of proof is on those who claim it not me the end reader. They are claiming something. Im asking for verification.
Many reputible news agencies. Which ones? What did they report? Im asking for verification re flakka being the csuse of a man impaling himself?
and you claim to be educated?

Flakka: The New Designer Drug You Need To Know About

A man rushes out of his house in Miami last month, ripping his clothes off in a rage, screaming violently, after smoking a crystal-like drug. Five police officers are required to take him down as he exhibits superhuman strength. He is sweating, paranoid, delusional and hallucinating about seeing objects in front of him.

The behavior described above, known as “excited delirium”, is the result of emerging use of a new synthetic amphetamine-like stimulant that is similar to the compound contained in bath salts, also known as cathinones.

The drug is called “Flakka”, and if you are the parent of a teen, it’s important to educate yourself about this new designer drug.

Use of the drug have been reported primarily in Florida, Texas, and Ohio, but the drug is likely making its way into many other cities.

While the synthetic stimulant contained in Flakka, alpha -PVP, was banned and labeled a Schedule 1 drug by the U.S DEA in early 2014, there was not a wide scale dissemination of this information in the lay press. Other more commonly abused bath salts of the cathinone class–such as MDPV–were more widely publicized when a federal ban was instituted in 2011. According to the DEA, Schedule 1 status signifies those substances with a high potential for abuse, lack of accepted safety for use of the drug under medical supervision, along with no currently accepted use for treatment in the US.

But since underground drug suppliers realize that bans by the DEA are an ongoing practice, they always seem to be one step ahead, making new versions of previously banned drugs. And such will likely be the case with Flakka.

Flakka, which comes in crystalline rock form, can be swallowed, snorted, injected, or used in an e- cigarette and vaped. The duration of the effects of the drug can last as few as 3-4 hours, but can also linger for several days. The drug is highly addictive, both from a physical as well as a psychological perspective.

Flakka Is The New Synthesized Drug That’s Got Everyone Scared

Flakka is the newest synthesized drug–similar to bath salts–that’s now coming to light after a host of scary cases of overdoses in Florida have been reported.

Those who’ve reportedly taken Flakka include a man who impaled himself on the fence of a police station, a man who tried to break down the door of a Ft. Lauderdale police station, and a dude who stood on his Palm Beach County roof naked with a gun yelling, “I feel delusional, and I’m hallucinating!”

Trying to break into a police station? Now you may understand why some dealers are calling it “$5 insanity.” But “Flakka?” That name probably comes from a Hispanic slang term that means “a beautiful woman who charms everyone she meets.”

So now that you know the name of the newest drug Fox News is going to talk about nonstop, let’s learn a little bit about it.

Flakka Ingredients:

Like we said before, Flakka is very similar to bath salts. It’s made from a chemical called alpha-PVP (alpha-pyrrolidinovalerophenone), a synthetic version of the Khat plants that Somalian pirates chew on.

Flakka Effects:

The immediate and long-term effects of cathinones can rival some of the strongest crystal meth and cocaine.

Jim Hall, an epidemiologist at the Center for Applied Research on Substance Use and Health Disparities at Nova Southeastern University in Broward County, Florida went on the record saying that the drug is designed to flood the brain with dopamine.

“Normally when dopamine would be released, even naturally or even with other drugs, it then gets reuptaked — it goes back to its original transmitting neuron. But in this case, its reuptake is blocked so it remains there.”

Side effects include hallucination, hyperthermia, and possible death.

Flakka Ingestion Methods:

Since Flakka is crushed up crystalline, the drug can be ingested via snorting, injection or vaping. Obviously we don’t suggest doing any of those things, we just thought you might like to know in case your parents ask you about it.

This is NOT spacific to flakka. Cocain, and crack cocain, meth aphemtamine, and amphetamine all can cause and do often cause the above symptoms.

It can aslo be descrbed as cocain pycosis, or any number of pycosis related to hard drug use in the stimulent and or amphetamine class of drugs or their analogues.

Sure...

Well considerinf the DEA has agents "amazed"at finding crushed asperin in a street drug, yeah no wonder the chemists for the dealers are one step ahead....

Which police station? Who was the man? was he in custody? How exactly did he impale himself?

Exclusive: Man On “Flakka” Impaled While Trying To Climb Fence

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) — For the second time in two months the dangerous new drug Flakka took center stage at the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

Last month, someone was trying to break down the front door of the police department. He told police he was high on Flakka.

On Sunday, a man told police he just smoked Flakka before being impaled while trying to scale the fence around the department.

It’s tough to look at surveillance video that captured Shanard Neely making a run for the spiked fence surrounding the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

Click here to watch Ted Scouten’s story.

And here’s where you cringe. He tried to scale the fence but didn’t make it! He was impaled by a foot long spike.

“He was just dangling there,” said Asst. Fort Lauderdale Fire Chief Tim Heiser. “There was no way he could have gotten off. It was too high up and nothing to actually leverage himself with.”

Lucky for him, a Fort Lauderdale fire truck was already there gassing up and moments behind it was the tactical response team arrived with a big job ahead of them.

“His one leg was through here,” Fort Lauderdale Fire Tactical Response Lt. Rick Pardo points out on the fence. “The other leg was over here somewhere and his entire upper body was on the opposite side of the fence.”

That spike went all the way through, entering in his thigh near the crotch, exiting on the other side, through the buttocks.

It was a daring rescue using circular saws to cut away the fence. During the rescue, Neely had to remain perfectly still so he didn’t slit an artery and possibly bleed out.

With sparks flying around him, rescuers had him propped up using ladders and a back board, while cutting around him.

Fire rescue captured the moment he was freed on video.

“Nice and easy boys,” we hear someone say. Then the critical moment when he was freed and moved to the stretcher. With the spike still in him, Neely was rushed to Broward Health. Rescuers went in to the emergency room to help doctors cut away everything but the spike.

Despite dangling on a fence for more than 20 minutes, Pardo said Neely was one very fortunate guy. If that spike went in just a little to the left or right, this could have had a very different ending.

“It could have went in and he could have bled out and it could have been really bad. He was definitely lucky,” Pardo said.

Neely remains at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale where he is recovering from surgery. He is also there for a psychological evaluation.

Was that so hard....-)
Now if we could just educate the DEA so they wont gey "amazed" at asperin in street drugs....mmmmmmmm
Fat chance....

Since you're so negative towards the DEA...the government....the Cops (as you call them the Pigs)....then maybe next time you're so messed up and get urself impaled....call a crack head for help....He'll probably leave you there, take ur wallet and shoes....This nutty guy was saved by the Police and Fire Dept....no matter what he was on...

Not many people, especially those who are NOT drug users, know that aspirin is in certain types of drugs....the DEA was just informing the public the ingredients.

Police deal with these druggies on a daily base....I, for 1.....dn't believe I'd have the patience or empathy for them. But it's their job to help and save lives...no matter the "bad apples"...druggies are bad apples themselves!

Your a funny girl....but i agree...those who wish to get their heads drilled into and do are rather screwed (pun intended)

No. The dea agent was "suprised" that asperin along with other chemicals was found in flakka...this is not the same as informing the public...its rather very different.

Thats actually not the job of the police. their job is to enforce laws and police the populace. Saving people crosses with that but they the police can and do brefuse to help save lives when it suits them. A case in new york illustrates this when a cop stood by wathcing and refusing to help a little girl who was dyng, and did die. He had cpr and first aid training and could of helped but choose not to. And the courts sided with him..

The Police do more than just enforce the laws and Populace....there have been many cases to attest to that....Now show me the proof this Cop refused to do CPR on this little girl....Link Please!
