Oh yeah! I remember that my country never had CC for TV at all. Just subtitle from dvd movie only. that's it.

I do not buy it without fully convincing details and proof. Oh never mind you are not able to discuss them into details.

Last spring one professor who travelled around the world to collect data on Deaf communities made his presentation and he said some European countries do much better services and access to Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.

Remember Europe is very popular than USA for text and data on their mobile so Euro deaf are very lucky. Mostly my side family who live in Europe and they use text more than voice.

I do not believe in lucks.

It is so important for us to have full access which is one of our universal human rights as Deaf and hard of hearing people.

Screen Subtitling

Europe use PAL formats and USA use NTSC formats.

PAL a special decoder is required as most PAL receivers do not support Closed Captions.

Duh!

I have convincing proof that I got from very reliable sources. Remind you that I have been very involved in some Deaf communities here and in other cities and that is how I have built up networking with leaders, academics and researchers in not only Canada, also U.S. and Europe.

Are you familiar with Deafhood that Genie Gertz, David Eberwein, and/or Nigel Howard presented? It is where I learned about the access and rights that the Deaf people in some countries in Europe have enjoyed.

Also, my friends and I researched on access and rights in Europe and we contacted some agencies there for more information and confirmation in the past.

I don't know them and I found out they from Gally. Correct? I never went to gally college before.

I am very well about NTSC and PAL so u do not need to explain to me about them. Did you ever hear of converting between them? I am sure you do.

One of them did not go to Gally and the rest did.

They did travel alot across U.S. and Canada to give presentation about Deafhood. in various Deaf seminars and workshops. If they hold one in your town, go there! :)

Yes, my father do have convert tool since 80's for VHS. (PAL->NTSC) or (NTSC->PAL) Right now he have another convert tool for dvd.

The problem here is that Canada does not have access to VRS unless they are calling someone in USA. That is the big issue.

Please don't be too discouraged. I work at Sorenson in Canada and I do community interpreting too. I believe I can use the skills I develop with VRS interpreting and give back to my Deaf community. I am a better interpreter for them because of my skill development and PD at Sorenson. I love it! I will never ignore my deaf community. FYI, there are a lot of other interpreters who work at Sorenson in Canada who provide back to their community. It's not as bad as you think, but of course there's also always a need to improve things.
 
Let's hope Canada get their own VRS set up soon !!! Come on Deaf Canadians , get your government to support VRS...

Yup! I think it's shame that deaf Canadians don't have the VRS access just yet for that looong. Only the problem is that American VRS providers cannot serve Canadians due to FCC paying minutes for the vrs services, u know.

But at least they are working on it underway so guess you guys have to be extra patience for them to arrive. Still it's way overdue!
