CVS buying Target's pharmacies for $2 billion

It possible be good news. Why? CVS will encourage Target to remove cigarette.

Don' care for CVS....and only shop Target a few times a year. IN my city, they are again building another CVS super store...don't know why, as nobody ever shops in there, the shelves are practically empty. Not sure about prescriptions tho'....but their service was the worst I ever encountered so I switched to Walgreens,....and Walgreens isn't much better, but their sales are really good.

My last 2 or 3 insurance plans have "networked" with CVS which isn't that prolific in my area. I've stuck with Walgreens (which took over a local grown pharmacy that I used) since their stores are closer to me. I use their prescription plan if a drug is less expensive than the out-of-network price my insurance will pay.

Oh, no. CVS is a very tough company to work with pharmacy wise. They've been sued for discrimination against people who are older or disabled. They are having a ton of medication errors because they are cutting tech hours and demanding a certain amount of prescriptions filled a day. They are making it incredibly hard for people to get pain medication if they have a valid prescription. It is disastrous.

It has been a bit but I switched from CVS to Walgreen's for prescriptions when CVS changed, at least locally, how they handle deliveries. They decided that you have to accept deliveries in person regardless of what the prescription is. I can understand it for something that is often abused; but everything? Walgreen's will put through my mail slot if in a small enough bottle or leave between the storm door and main door. I don't use it often but as a single person with no family it is valuable to me to know that it is available. It is not a matter of being gone at a time when I feel I need delivery but a matter of having missed them before because both doors are at the other end of the house from the bedrooms.

It is not a matter of location when shopping in person as the two are just a block apart. Both seem to be similar in number of customers and keeping stock on hand. One thing that really gets me as a single person is that Walgreen's runs sooooo many specials on general merchandise or food where there is a multiple item price and a higher price per item to buy just one. For example my local flyer shows 2-liter Coca-Cola products at 4/$5 (which works out to $1.25 each) BUT if you want just one it is $1.49 each!!!
