I just like to encourage you to take a CPR and First Aid class. It will be helpful and beneficial to you in case you encounter an Emergancy and you will know how to handle a situation and remain calm. You can check with American Heart Association or the Red Cross.

I encourage interpreters to do so as well. If you do medical interpreting I highly recommended it. You might be thinking why do I need this? You never know when it is only you and client it helps remain calm and deal with your patient when Emergancy team is present. You will have some knowledge before calling for help by professional trained Emergancy rescue upon arrival.

It is actually fun and you feel proud of yourself when you save a life or rescue someone from getting themselves into situation where they will regret. Yes AHA (America Heart Association) and/or ARC (America Red Cross) are good source so is NSC (National Safety Council). I took ARC and NSC... when it expires, I will re-take and probably will give AHA a shot since they are little more advanced then ARC in some area including AED classes. (You know what Samaritan's law is? it is something you need for AED)... :)

When the last time you took it? You realize they changed from A-B-C to C-A-B?

Great reminder Rio. I am certified and have had to use it quite a few times while working in the pharmacy. There were a few seizures, severe allergic reaction, possible strokes...what was sad though was the pharmacy I worked for was so against me helping anyone because they were afraid of getting sued.

My son passed away when he was young, I couldn't help him but I made sure if I was ever in a position to help, I would know what to do and help as best as I can.

Even if you can't get out and take a class, read up on basic CPR, you never know when you just might be the one to save a life.

That's awesome Angel! I was on an interpreting assignment, the doctor got injured on the job , a very serious injury. It helps keep your mind focused and stable in emergancies when you have this background.

Angel, I am sorry to hear about your son  Glad you did this to save others, very rewarding!
