Court of public opinion looms large in George Zimmerman murder trial

Department of Justice needs a warrant to tap phone lines, wait...

We're talking about elected officials here. My bad!

Secondly, why can't I get a full ride to help pay for my scholarship? I mean, if we're going to play the race card, as an Asian with remarkably good grades and poor Asian parents, don't I get one? *sarcasm fully intended*

Tom is giving this scholarship from his own personal money...It is not an entitlement. He is also a friend of mine, we played softball together back in the day. He is a good man, does this kind of thing often.

did you notice the last 3 words from her post?

I'm never said it was an entitlement nor was it a bad thing. Guess I'll have to be more careful posting here...not that I do it often anyways.

nah it's fine. it's just only one person.

Right, it was the race card bit. But this wasn't criticism or a correction...just clarifying. This is a personal gift from a pretty cool dude. I am happy for her. I hope it works out for her.

I meant it as a sarcastic thing, guess it didn't seem that a way...mostly because this entire Zimmerman thing has racial motivations behind it supposedly anyways. I guess being sarcastic wasn't smart.

Good for her though.

The sarcasm was fine. I use it often.

Depends on what you mean by "wrong." Morally, legally, or common sensical?

I believe Zimmerman was within his legal rights to be where he was and do what he did.

However, I don't believe what he did by getting out of his vehicle was prudent or wise.
Hypothetically, GZ was walking on the way to the 7-11 store with his umbrella for the sake of exercises, he noticed TM who looked suspicious. How would it make a difference while his car was in the garage? In other words, he had rights to be where he was without his car.

Fired IT director who testified in George Zimmerman trial will sue State Attorney's O

Ben Kruidbos testified last month that prosecutors did not turn over all information to George Zimmerman’s defense team in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. Last week, State Attorney Angela Corey fired Kruidbos. Now, his attorney says he plans on filing a lawsuit within 30 days.

“He has certainly received a major body blow by the conduct of the State Attorney’s Office,” said his attorney, Wesley White. “He knows he did the right thing.”

The same day prosecutors finished their closing arguments, one of Corey’s investigators went to Ben Kruidbos’ home about 7:30 a.m. to hand-deliver a letter that said Kruidbos “can never again be trusted to step foot in this office.”

On Tuesday, White said he will file a whistleblower lawsuit on Kruidbos’ behalf in Florida’s Fourth Judicial District Circuit against the State Attorney’s Office.

Cheryl Peek, the managing director of the State Attorney’s Office, wrote the six-page termination letter, which also said, ““Your egregious lack of regard for the sensitive nature of the information handled by this office is completely abhorrent. You have proven to be completely untrustworthy.”

Peek noted he was questioned in March when the office was trying to determine who had leaked personnel information obtained through a computer breach.

She also wrote that Kruidbos did a poor job overseeing the information technology department, violated public records law for retaining documents and was insubordinate.

A document dated May 16, however, says he received a pay raise for “meritorious performance.”

On Friday, Kruidbos said he had acted in good faith about “genuine concerns.”

“I don’t have any regrets,” he said then, “but I am terrified about the future and what that will end up being.”

His attorney, White, had resigned from the office in December, and his dislike for Corey was known by the State Attorney’s Office.

When White resigned, Peek wrote in Kruidbos’ termination letter, “he was clearly ‘not happy.’”

White said he needs to determine how much damages Kruidbos will file for in the lawsuit.

“He’ll eventually, I’m sure, be alright,” White said about Kruidbos. “Ben is holding up fairly well.”

The lawsuit will also seek to return Kruidbos to his job.

I did say he had the legal right. That still doesn't make it a wise move.

Just because a person has the legal right to do something doesn't mean he should do it.

Having the right to do something also means that you have the right not to do it if that is the wiser action to take.

Politics will play a role there as well.
That's up to the school to decide. At many schools if your test scores don't meet the minimum required then that's the end of that. Of course, a person can get tutoring and take the test again.

Since the FBI investigation showed no trace of racism in Zimmerman, how can the Feds bring any charges against him? They have no case.

I guess they think they should look busy.........

which was what I've said right in the beginning - there's no racism involved.

And by attempting to bring Federal charges will make them look petty and vindictive because somebody's ego is on the line.
