In the very early morning of July 12, 2012, an ALERT message had caught my attention about the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) on Twitter. I have never heard of of this CRPD and I have first response and mention about this topic on my blog. The message was about for us to support and ask our states Senator to ratify this CRPD before the Senate attend to a hearing where the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee would hold a hearing on Thursday, July 12, at 9:00 a.m. at the Dirksen Senate Office Building, Room G-50. I was able to have time to write a letter to the New York Senator to opposite against it.
Before I have sent via email Senator this letter, I have done some reading about this CRPD thing which I at first though this CRPD thing was a good thing for the disabled people in our country (USA), since I am disabled Deaf in both ears. After I have done a bit more research about this, my result has changed my though. It was NOT NECESSARY having this CRPD idea in our country. It is based on two strong reasons, the first reason was about this American with Disabilities Act (ADA) which we already have since George H. W. Bush had signed this into law in 1990. Secondly, I have discovered what does this Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) mean and where did this CRPD idea come from is not from USA.
This Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities idea I understand came from the international human rights instrument of the United Nations. You can check that two different links that explain all about that here: Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
These two top reasons I have opposite against it when I asked myself a question in mind 'why do we need US/Senator to ratify CRPD while our country are already being recognized as a human civil right for disabilities?' That was after I have also discovered that President Barack Obama had signed an order for the United States to become a signatory to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in July 24, 2009.
I couldn't possibly understand why Barack Obama was into this when our country (USA) are in good responsibly control and protecting every disabled person's life with civil right? Since our country already being recognized as a human civil right for disabilities by this America Disabilities Act (ADA) law, why add or change what George H. W. Bush has already signed this ADA law?
Again, this Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities idea is the international human rights instrument of the United Nations. It is NOT NECESSARY to have another kind of law which we already have for our country and it is NOT NECESSARY a good idea for them to monitors convention us by the United Nations or outside States parties to ensure that we are treating our disabilities people with respect. Since I believe this CRPD idea had violated against our America Disabilities Act law which Bush had signed.
The possible good news was that this CRPD thing may not happen in our country. I have discovered this on the very same day during the late morning that U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations U.N. CRPD was broadcast live from 9am to noon online. I have discovered about this on twitter. I haven't had a chance to watch the beginning of this broadcast live hearing within an hour and a half before the hearing end.
While I have had witness this live broadcast hearing to see whether the Senate would dare ratify the CRPD in our country. It looks like most of the Senate had opposite against it. You can still watch this (Past Live) record closed caption video at their U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations video.
I say this is a good sign so far, because we don't need to have this New World Order idea as well.
