I have no idea where to post this! azdklsjfa;klsdjf
Anyway, I do wear a cochlear implant (on my left ear) so I can talk. I will start to learn ASL as a language class this year (YAY) at my high school. But that isn't what I wanted to talk about.
Basically, I have been speaking for a long time as I got my cochlear when I was three. My speech is fantastic but I lack communication skills. It's more on the listening part, I think. I'm not GREAT at lipreading but I find it easier to talk to a person if we're facing each other.
So I guess I'd have to learn how to read lips better...? How could I do that???
I also noticed that when I'm watching TV and I'm literally able to put the captions on, that I won't be listening to whatever is going on. Instead, I'll be reading the words that the characters are saying. I know that I'm not listening to the people as much as I probably should be because I recently finished watching Merlin on Netflix. The actors and actresses are from mainly Europe so I would have a harder time following what they were saying because of their accents. I was watching Colin Morgan (Merlin) and Bradley James (King Arthur) on YouTube last night--just interviews, mainly and I had NO idea what they were saying at all! When I was watching the show, I barely NOTICED their accent. I mean, literally, I remember thinking various times about how their voices were so clear and very understandable.
Well actually their voices on the show are not as overlapping as the interviews soooo...
Hm. It's just that this year, when I go back for my junior year, I want to be more socially active and be more capable of holding a conversation with a group of people (which I'm VERY bad at. Honestly, I just find myself staring elsewhere).
