More evidence of Bush's strategy of 'not thinkin' it through'!

CNN) -- It was one of the best known lines President Bush ever uttered. Just a few months after the September 11 attacks, who can forget what he said about catching Osama bin Laden:

President Bush: I don't care, dead or alive either way. I mean I uh, it doesn't matter to me. Secondly, I don't know if we're gonna get him tomorrow or a month from now, or a year from now, but we're gonna get him.

That was Bush the cowboy with a pledge to the American people. At the time, it felt as though there was no bigger priority. But it's now eight years later. Listen to President Bush talk about bin Laden now, at the end of his presidency, a chastened cowboy at best:

Larry King: ...Are we ever, ever going to find bin Laden?

Bush: Yes, of course. Absolutely.

King: You are confident, based on --

Bush: Because we have a lot of people looking for him, a lot of assets out there. He can't run forever. Just like the people who allegedly were involved in the East African bombings, couple of them were brought to justice recently.

King: Did we ever come close?

Bush: I don't know. I can't answer that.

King: You don't know.

Bush: I really don't know. I'm not trying to hide anything.

You would think that of all people, he would be able to answer that question.

So looking ahead -- well frankly, the view seems pretty grim.

Vice President-elect Joe Biden and Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham are just back from a Middle East tour, including visits to Iraq and Afghanistan.

They are giving President-elect Barack Obama a dire warning -- the fight in Afghanistan is about to get ugly.

This comes as Osama bin Laden's first recording in eight months promises new terror, no matter the changes in the White House.

interesting... then why bush keeps this happen..and didnt caught him yet.. what a odd.. but yes money he wants us to use money to waste for it.. same idea with Vietnam now it times to catch him.. no wait at all!

you have 4 more days to catch osama, bush. good luck! :giggle:

looks like another one of bush's promises that won't be kept. surprise, surprise.

because he's hiding in pakistan and pakistan refused to cooperate with USA by letting American troops on their soil. Pakistan said they will handle it but what's not helping the situation is Bush Administration's tone.

but then... maybe bin laden is really dead.

Is that so? Clinton failed to find Bin Laden. Or are you glad he is still undiscover?

Are you saying he is just a puppet name under the super-terrorist ruler who create the fake name and the real master is somewhere else? Nice!

Remember the muppet "Bert" in the picture with Osama Bin Linden??? Maybe Osama is really a puppet. :giggle:

Maybe he is sunning himself on the beach at the French Riviera, courtesy of the spooks.

simple - Obama will work with Pakistan and convince them into letting American troops into Pakistan territory. The reason why they didn't cooperate with us is because they didn't like Bush's tone and his handling of wars. You think Pakistan Government want blood on their hands if Pakistan civilians died by NATO as a collateral damage?

methinks not :nono:

yup that is why that would be next.. let see!

I would be VERY surprised if Obama mentions bin Laden's name again. When Obama mentioned the name in the last debate with McCain, I winced. I may be wrong, but I have a feeling that Obama has aged quite a bit since his briefings. I most certainly do not expect him to order attacks based on deceit. But, like you say, we will see.
