Please could someone provide a transcription for this as it sounds interesting but I'm deafblind so I cannot access it. So if someone could transcribe for this I'd be very grateful.
Man: Mum!
Mother: What, darling?
Man [signing BSL and talking at the same time]: I've got something to tell you.
Mother: All right, dear. Just a minute.
Man: I've been wanting to tell you for some time now...
Mother: This sounds serious!
Man: It is serious!
Mother [concerned face]: Are you ill?
Man: No! It's nothing like that.
Man: It's about me. Who I am.
Mother [concerned face]: What do you mean?
Man: The thing is that I... I... I'm different to [sic] other people.
Mother: Oh, I know that! You're my special boy...
Mother: Always have been,
Man: No, I mean really different.
Man: I've known for some time now...
Man: but I'm deaf.
Mother: No, you're not. You just don't concentrate enough. Always away with the fairies in your own little world.
Man: No, I mean really deaf, Mum.
Man: You see my hands moving? This is called sign language. Haven't you noticed?
Mother: Well... yes...
Mother: I've seen you moving your hands about.
Mother: But I thought you were being artistic.
Man: This is how I communicate... It's very important to me.
Man: It makes me feel free. You need to try and understand that.
Man: I'm different.
Mother: It might be a phase. I mean, maybe you'll grow out of it.
Man: No, it's not. I'm not the only one.
Man: I've seen other ddeaf people signing. They look so alive.
Mother: I can see you've thought about this a lot.
Mother: but are you sure?
Man: It's me, mum. I know that now.
Mother: How long have you known?
Man: A long time.
Man: When I was younger, do you remember when you went out shopping?
Man: I had a video, I kept under my bed.
Mother: A dirty video?
Man: See Hear.
Mother: If I'd only known.
Man: I've got some hearing aids too.
Man: I love wearing them.
Man; I want everyone to see my deaf identity.
Mother: What else have you been keeping from me?
Man: Er... there's a magazine.
Mother: Maybe you're going to grow out of all this?
Man: I won't Mum. I know who I am and I can't change now.
Man: You're going to have to accept this is me. I'm deaf.
Man: Some people exist in both worlds, but I'm not bi... acoustic.
Man: I want to be part of the deaf world.
Man: I want to tell you this - there's more deaf people around than you realise.
Mother: But what about the hearing world?
Man: I like it.
Man: But remember all those films we watched without subtitles?
Man: I never understood what was happening.
Man: And when you called upstairs?
Man: And when I came back with the wrong shopping?
Mother: Oh Jack ... Really, if I think about it, I've always known inside that you were different, a little more 'expressive' than other children.
Mother: But you're my son, and I love you very much. But I dread to think what your father's going to say about this.
Jack: Actually, there is something else...
[Father comes in]
Father [signing BSL and talking at the same time]: What's the matter? Anyone would think you've just told Mum you're deaf or something?
